I'm working with Mark Sherman to make a complete list of how his 82 lighthouse watercolors done for Harbour Lights have been used.

Here's the ONLY ONES I'm looking for help on:

1. At the 2001 Reunion, there were several 12" round clocks. One was Cape Hatteras. Which other ones were there? And how much did they cost? (If you had also attended the 1997 and 1998 reunions, you got a 10" clock with Hooper Strait MD on it as a gift.)

2. I think at the 1997 Reunion there was a set of 4 coasters 2 x 2" in a box. What images were on those?

3. Mark says he did a watercolor of Old Michigan City IN in 2001 - but doesn't think any uses were made of it. Do you know of any?

4. Was there a Mark Sherman print given at the 1997 reunion? If so, which one?

5. A few bookmarks were made - which ones have you seen and how did you obtain them?

6. What is the retail price of the matted and framed prints by Mark Sherman (Not reunion or Society ones.)

7. How were the notecards packaged and sold? (i.e. 4 different images 2 of each in a box with 8 envelopes? or? Price?)

Thanks,

Matted prints retailed for $9.95.

John, I have several different bookmarks around here, which I will try and find to identify. I think that I picked them all up at Rosemont, or other trade shows at the booth.

I once asked Maureen how the bookmarks came about, and she told me the the Sherman prints were made on an odd sized paper which resulted in an extra piece that was cut off and was to be thrown away. In an effort to use the whole sheet of paper, HL had a bookmark printed on that extra piece and gave them out as a promo.

Thanks to the two Jims. Yes, JJ, I remember that from Maureen now that you brought it up again.

Actually I have a high resolution copy of the original and have discussed rights with Bill and Mark.. Mark has offered to sign and number some prints to help the Hoosier Lighthousing Club raise money for the Old Michigan City Lighthouse restoration projects.. This will be one of the things I will be working on in the near future.. They probably will be 8 X 10 in size suitable for framing... Also a few will be 11 X 14 size available for Club members... I am probably prejudiced but I think it is one of Mark's finest!!

John...

As far as the bookmarks go, I have six of them but they are all Cape Hatteras or Cape Lookout. I received all of them from correspondence from HL headquarters.

I will go check my reunion items.

I have a set of 6 HL coasters, two each of the following:
  • Cape Hatteras
  • Thomas Point
  • Split Rock

A few more items I have found are:

1- Another bookmark from the 2001 HL Reunion of Hooper's Strait. This bookmark is different from the other ones I previously mentioned. The picture on the reunion bookmark runs horizontal with a verse from Psalm while the other ones are vertical with a quote and the HL logo.

2- I have four coasters from the first reunion. They did not come in a box. I guess two were just randomly put in each person's reunion goodie bag. We ended up with three Thomas Point's and one Split Rock.

3- We each received a magnet from the first reunion that was also included in the goodie bag. One is of Portland Head and the other is Old Point Loma.

Found pictures of the 4 pendulum clocks. These were 12" in diameter and the 10" version of Hooper Strait (without pendulum) was a gift to those at the 2001 reunion who also attended the 1997 and 1998 reunions. (About 200 were distributed.)

Do you own a Mark Sherman original of one of the Harbour Lights Commissioned watercolors? Perhaps Mark would appreciate having a record of your ownership. Some of these were given in opportunity drawings, others were auctioned.

You can email Mark at ShermanArt@hotmail.com

John, I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but these were available from the Keeper's Closet - remember that?

Notecards: six designs for $5.95! Different boxes had different designs (I ordered a few times and I have a couple of notes which Kim wrote to me - Sanibel and Point Fermin. I also remember Alcatraz.)
Box of coasters: 2 each of 3 designs for $8.00. I used to have a box but can't find it - Hatteras was one, of course.
Set of four magnets (Split Rock, Hatteras, Portland, and Point Loma) for $4.00.
I have found three of the bookmarks: Cape Florida, Hatteras, and Cape Lookout. (Bodie was a Bruce Roberts photo.)
Hope this helps. Will let you know if I find anything else!
