Nope. Selkirk and Brant Point will be forcibly retired due to lack of sales, probably at the beginning of September. Otherwise, this is going to be another long, slow year for retirements. I'd bet money that Execution Rock has 2,000 to 3,000 pieces left.

Charlotte Genessee will probably be forcibly retired by the end of the year, as will Ida Lewis and possibly Point Pinos and Saugerties.

For the good of the line, I hope Harbour Lights enacts a 3 year mandatory retirement rule. There are WAY, WAY too many unretired pieces on dealer shelves at the moment.

Bill,

I agree on many of your guesses as to possible forced retirements by Younger & Associates. I do disagree with Saugerties, NY though.

I think that with the introduction of the Hudson River Series pieces and advertisements featuring the three new releases, along with Jeffrey's Hook & Saugerties, may mean a reprieve for the old girl.

Just a thought,

Is the Selkirk van still making its way around the country? Maybe it will be successful in its efforts to promote the piece.

Bill,

Yesterday I finally caught up with retired at retail with my dealer in Gloucester. I look for the next retiring piece so as not to miss out. Started in '97. so have had a really tight squeeze on budgeting and not loosing out. Secondary market will only be used after I get current pieces within my dollar amount.

I wonder when these HL are going to retire?
Cape Meares, Mukilteo, and Concord Point

I still would like to have a few that are retired. But, with a school teacher's salary, I have to watch those nickels and dimes like you Moby. The service Retired@Retail has helped a lot of new collectors who suddenly find themselves in a buying frensy. Thanks, Rick!

Thankfully, my family began to give me retired pieces as birthday and Christmas presents when I first began my collection. I have also found a collector near me who is selling all of his HLs and have been able to pay in installments for the pieces I wanted.

I have been so fortunate that I have received some of the retired ones from family and friends as presents. Don't know how I could have managed having as many as I do without that happening.

Thanks to all those who have been and are now involved with the Retired@Retail. It is surely helping the new collector who is in a buying frenzy.

After finally visiting Selkirk last month two things happened. First the film that contained photos of Selkirk mysteriously slipped out of my hand into my coffee cup causing photos of other lighthouses on the roll to develop purple spots. Secondly the whole camera went kaput the next time around. Maybe the ghost of Selkirk getting it's revenge? I vote it be retired (like my camera)!

Great detective work, Jim. I guess we should let the reps know what is retiring now. LOL

Jim,

Just got Sandy Point. Will get Beaver Tail and Grand Traverse next. Trying to stay ahead on those that retire.

My prediction stands.

Grand Traverse, Jeffrey's Hook, Beavertail and Sandy Point Shoal are NOT...

NOT

NOT

NOT

retired.

They are, however, on the "endangered" list, which means they could languish for many more months before Bill Younger drops the hammer on the master mold. I called Harbour Lights directly for this information.

Selkirk and Brant Point will be the next to retire (IMO)...forcibly, due to lack of sales. Probably in September.

Oh, Mr. Chidester? As official umpire of this site, can you get a ruling on this? I say his serve was out, and he says his serve was in. The match is at stake here (although I hope he's right...retirements are always welcome).

I confirmed the 'eminent retirement' status of Grand Traverse, Sandy Point, Beavertail, and Jeffrey's Hook with the powers that be in El Cajon.

These are not yet retired, but expect it within a short time.

Also confirmed that autoships on the four 1999 lighthouses just announced will be the same as it has been since that program was implemented. So, yes, Autoships will be made.

This is one time I like being wrong. I have no doubt Selkirk and Brant Point will drop before hitting their 9500 limit...but anything that retires before them is great.

Is anyone else surprised that Grand Haven and Sturgeon Bay haven't retired yet, given their brilliant use of metalwork? Perhaps Sturgeon Bay is simply too small to catch people's attention the way Sanibel and Hillsboro (similar skeleton tower shapes) did.

Bill,

Sturgeon Bay may be cmall but the metal work is excellent. I will get that later on. Still trying to catch up on the ones leaving us at the present.

The really smart prognosticators predict stuff that can only happen after they're long gone. Let's hang to this puppy a while longer. ;->
