Well, another year has past us by and most of us have added more pieces to our already large collection! I am curious to see if anyone has changed their mind on their favorite lighthouse figurine from previous years. I would have to say my favorite is Old Point Comfort. I like the detail on the piece and the size. The wife and I saw this lighthouse back in 1992 and I just love the area around it and the history. The Civil War has always been an interest of mine and seeing the fort in back of the lighthouse was an added bonus! So, everytime I look at the figurine, I remember the trip we took and beautiful area around it! Please list your favorite and why it is your favorite!

You're asking us to make a very tough decision, Randy! When I read your post, the first HL that came to mind was New London Ledge (didn't I buy that from you?). Next I thought of Nauset Light which was given to me by a friend and that qualifies it as very special. Then I wandered out to my main curio and said to myself, "Look at St. Augustine!...look at New Point Loma!.... look at Barnegat!....look at CH-2!...well needless to say I can't truthfully reply with the name of one light. Reading my reply might give you a rough idea of what I was thinking.

I'd have to agree with you, Randy. Even though there were many nice releases during the past year OPC ranks right at the top. During the late 80's and early 90's I spent alot of time around Fort Monroe, OPC, and the surrounding area.
HL did a superb job on this one. In addition, I have a fondness for the "large" foremat....especially with all that great "detail".

Hi Randy, Yes my favorite has changed during the past year. I do not consider who gave me the HL or if I have visited it. I will vote on quality of the HL. When I look at Gay Head Light, its detail, weight and the ability to make want to visit there. It wins.

Randy asks a tough question. It would be easier to name my least favorite. That of course would be that travesty Grosse Point L.E. As far as a favorite, I can narrow it down to 5 or 6. In no particular order, Hatteras-on -the-Move, Whitefish Point, Cape Henry, Sturgeon Bay (sentimental reasons), Grand Haven. I also haven't seen a skeleton tower or screwpile light I haven't liked. This of course doesn't include the Christmas pieces. I do think that my absolute favorite piece is going to be St. Helena.

See, it's just to hard to choose.

By the way Joe, if you're thinking of visiting Gay Head, Keep in mind that only the tower remains. The house is long gone.

Just so you're not dissapointed.

There are so many beauties to chose from, yet I remain faithful to my favorite, Middle Bay. I just love that cow.

My favorite still remains Nubble Light, not because of the detail, but because of the memories she brings back. I remember as if it was yesterday when I "rode the rail" to the light with my daughter many years ago. Nubble is quite a remarkable light, and in a beautiful setting.

Gee it is hard for me to say, "just one". But I think my favorite one today, tomorrow it will be a different one, is New Point Loma. I still have a hard time with it's cost, but I really do like it.

My favorite HL is very difficult to choose as there are so many. Rather than try to pick my favorite, I'll try the top 5. Gay Head, Stonington, Great Captain, Cape Neddick and Southeast Block Island. NOt necessarily in that order. Sooo.. many nice ones, Sooo.. Hard to choose!

My favorite is Thomas Point!

If you need to ask the reason why it is my favorite, you must get up from your computer right now and put all of your Harbour Lights lighthouses in a great big box... take them out and set them at the end of your driveway and then call Bill Younger to come pick them up!

Hey Paulie, is that one of those 'mirror within a mirror' trick shots or is there a really giant person wearing a shirt with Thomas Point on it and holding a Paul Brady doll? :-)

Guess I'm in the same boat with Nana. I don't have a fixed favorite and wander back and forth from day to day. Today I'm struck by the simple elegance of Buffalo, though Charlotte-Genessee is winking at me. :-)

My favorite is American Shoal, as I tend towards the intricate ones. Some of my other favorites are: Boca Grande, Sanibel, Whitefish, Sturgeon Bay, and Hillsboro Inlet.

Boy am I in trouble! After posting my favorite, I overheard some rumbling in one of my curios. Seems the news had traveled to all the FL HL lighthouses and are they ever unhappy with my answer....Oh, well, what is a girl to do???

Hey Nana, tell your Florida lights the NPL palms are modeled after those at Cape Canaveral.

Well, I guess I'd have to say Sister(s) Island!

Other than that it is hard to pick a favorite. It would just be a matter of prefering some over others.

I would have to agree with Randy, and go with Old Point Comfort. This was the very first lighthouse that my wife and I purchased, and you could say that it's the one that got us started on this madness called Harbour Lights collecting.

After that, I'd have to go with the following in no particular order: La Martre, Sisters, and Ft Jefferson.

Randy, I also go back and forth on my favorite since I like them all. My favorite at the moment is Sister(s) Island, although I have a great fondness for my LE Sanibel as that is where my wife & I celebrated our Honeymoon.

*IT CAN'T BE DONE!!!!*

Sorry for yelling.

I sit here, surrounded by clumps of my own hair lying strewn about on the floor around me, agonizing over which one HL model is my favorite.

It's like some wierd collector's corollary to Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle; one's favorite HL changes by the very act of trying to decide which is one's favorite.

...And I'll be happy to see
those nice young men
in their clean white coats
and they're coming to take me away,
ha ha!

Is this question like asking a mother which is her favorite child?
It can only be answered by "each one is my favorite for different reasons"!!!

I think my favorite is Pemaquid simply because when I look at it I can still picture being there with the waves crashing against the rocks surrounding the lighthouse. It may be also that I think HL did a fantastic job of making their lighthouse just like the original.

Looks like alot of folks first light is their fav and so is mine.Something about Hillsboro Inlet that is so striking. It caught my attention in the store and that was it.Since we are doing others,Cape Florida is a close second and La Martre is third.

I have to agree with Art. It's a basically impossible task...but if I have to choose just one it has to be

Rose Island, RI (at least today)

Brant Point, MA was the first light I photographed, so I guess I have special feelings about it.

This is an easy question for me to answer. While I have favorable comments about many older LEs (St. Augie, SE Block), and admire the detail and artistic merits of newer LEs, my favorite hands down is Nauset Beach. No questions asked! I told you it was easy!!!!!
