A novice question - did you purchase these pieces because you did not have them in your collection or because they were artist proof? Is there REAL extra value to artist proof? Thanks! Pat

Both. Artist's Proofs are among the rarest. 10-14 AP's are made. I've 27 AP's. The price was right and so was the opportunity. I don't by doubles. I neither have the space or the $'s to do so.

Picked up my very first AP at the LHD store on Saturday. I am very very happy to receive my AP that I glady paid "FULL" price for..... perhaps I didn't get the single digit number of this particular piece, but I finally got my "AP" of this odd often requested Wisconsin light.
...too bad many of the other HLs at the store were "deeply" discounted. Kinda disgusting...
I am still waiting patiently to see the AP of Mark Island (Winter Harbor, Maine) light show up someday (?)

I got 5 APs. They were:
Point Sur, Mobile Point, Point Bonita, Pottawatomie, USCG Mackinaw - red hull
Very happy to get them.
I wonder if there are any left?

I wish I had more cash to buy a few of these. But since I don't I only bought one, South Haven. It was also the only 2008 I was missing. Will be saving it as a Christmas present to myself. Now if I could add a West Quoddy AP to my collection........

Now that the opportunity for purchasing APs via the first opportunity in early October and the second opportunity via the "Dribs and Drabs" offer is coming to a close..... I see the last (or most recent) AP available was for HL374 Franks Isla, LA, originally offered as part of the 2009 Winter Releases.
So my question is, how many APs were ordered and/or made of each limited piece starting with HL375 Saginaw River, MI, part of the 2009 Summer Releases?
Are 12-14 still made of each replica or has Harbour Lights cut the number of APs back?
An interesting question to ponder don't you think!

From hearing Harry talk about AP's at the HL Auction in Alpena, MI at the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival in October 2009 where several AP's were auctioned, I understood that 12-14 are still made.

So YOU got my South Haven ... ; oh well, got the Harbor of Refuge and that was my first and only AP. Ordered the South Haven with the 20% off and $5.99 shipping. Since the AP cost about $15 to ship (and my girlfriend was procrastinating) I couldn't refuse. :p Also bought the Pomham Rocks earlier (since I was one of them that suggested it last year, and would like to get the other two I suggested (East and West Chop), but am already using a shoehorn to make room for these ...as well as digging too deep into enriching China's economy (though if I've gotta do that, I guess this is one of the few ways I feel comfortable doing it!) Now I have just about every one that they make which I've seen ...though I had to convert to LLOM's to accommodate our recent NJ/Poconos trip. Steve
