A couple of days ago a thread was started named 'FOUNDERS COLLECTION' and was inquiring what was going on and what the ending date was.

I had had those same questions myself, and watched it with interest - and today it's gone. I did a search and it turned up in the list, but when I tried to open the link the message "You have requested topic that does not exist" appeared.

Where did the thread go? And, what is going on with the Founders Collection sale? I was not very at ease having to select 15 items to hopefully get 3 that I wanted, and now all information and discussion of this has dried up.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the stock of retired items that were 'found' last year. I ordered, and was confirmed, what was described to be a first mold Assateague, only to recieve a high numbered second mold. HL claimed ignorance and no responsibility - so I'm a little uneasy with all this silence.

Lighthog,

You are probably looking at only the last 30 days. Set your topic for the "last year" and it is the last one in the list. HOW?

Just click on "The Numbers Game" and in the uper right, click on the down arrow. You'll see "last year". Highlight and hit GO.

Actually, I think Lighthog is talking about Daniel's post yesterday. Daniel talked about submitting his order and wanted to know if anyone else had and when was the final day for orders. I looked for it, too, and can't find it. Maybe he removed it? confused

Yes beachcomber, I was talking about Daniel's post - I just could not remember who started it.
I'm still very curious about what is going on with this program.

Thanks for the search tip Bob, but I was using the search function set for 'all', and it brought up items to last year when the #1 was auctioned.

Regards

Roger, I believe you can continue to request pieces for a little while yet. The thing to do is get those requests in now. Remember that they are filling the requests in the order received.

If anyone does not have a dealer that can provide the information and forms you need, you can contact Tony and he will get you the information. I know that my local dealer has the information (she read her mail from HL....) and when I visited with her on Tuesday she said she would be more than happy to help any collector that needed to submit an order.

Remember, the lights will be shipped direct to you, and not to the dealer. No tax, no shipping. What a deal!

Thanks Dave. I'm not hoping to get in another order though. I got my order in as soon as my dealer had the info.

I was more interested in the end date because the program stated that all Option 4, then 3 then 2 would be filled before Option 1's (that's me). Additionally, there has been total silence on the board regarding this, except for Daniels post - which disappeared.

Just trying to 'stir the pot' a little. wink

I would have loved to make a purchase (Option 1) but I can only buy on the layaway plan so that leaves this opportunity out for me. Hope some other CF members get some good deals!! There are a couple of those lights which I would really love to have at the original price. smile

Wow
I get more of a response when I delete a post than when I post one.
The post was there two days and after no response I deleted it.
To me it looked like either there was a total lack of interested about the founder’s collection or that no one else wanted to share their experience. So off went my post into non-existence to give up the cyber space for the non-collecting topics.

Thanks beachcomber for watching and responding.

By the response of my dealers and on the forums I feel that collectors are not going to be beating down the doors to get one of Bills #2 to #10. I also believe that those that jumped on this the first couple of days will probably get the pieces they asked for. Since those that wanted the big lots of lights probably already got them last year and that will leave those that will purchase three for this year. Any collector that is still waiting on their dealer to find out how to purchase the FC, I recommend that they find a dealer that all ready knows what to do. Remember the orders go by option type, than by which order was faxed in first. I can recommend the dealer I used if anyone wants to email me for it.

I would still like to hear from collectors that are participating in purchasing the Founder’s collection and what their experience was.
If you do not want to post on the forums then if you would email me and let me know if you order a set I would appreciate it.

I wasn't going to try and order 3 pieces but I said "What the Heck" and ordered. I talked to Tony yesterday and he said the announcement should be coming out around the 13th. Just in time for Christmas.

Daniel - Thanks for you thoughts. I ordered a set of 3 one or two days into the program. I don't remember exactly the date or all 15 I had to request. That documentation is at the office and I'll e-mail it to you Monday.

Rich - Thanks for the update. One of the unknowns (to me anyway) was when this program ended, and we could expect to find out what we were getting.

Regards

Remember even though you have to pick 15 I think the better way to look at is that for each light you are picking you add 4 more choices. For me this was very easy.
On the first tier there was 3 of the original 17, the great lakes , the north Atlantic, the southern Bells and four lighthouses in the 1994 to 96 group.
The other tier started with Cape Canaveral and went all the way up to HL354. This again was easy. I picked some of my all time favorite lights of my area and then picked some of the lights I don’t have.

Everything is shipped directly to you and you don’t pay shipping or sales tax. So for retail you can purchase a lighthouse with a single digit or a 10. How could you go wrong with that?

Just can't beat that! I hope some collectors who haven't posted took advantage of this great deal! This is a once (I guess twice, in this case) in a lifetime opportunity. It's really fantastic that HL and Bill have given collectors another chance at owning some fabulous lights. applaud

I want to add that what I listed above was a very general outline of what you can pick from and you must go to a dealer to get the exact list to pick from.

Monday is the last date to place your order for Founders Collection items. Don't miss out on your chance to have a single digit piece at retail!

Tony says those who ordered pieces from the Founders Collection will have their pieces shipped to them by the end of this week.

Congrats, Rick, on receiving your FC pieces today, and for being back behind the wheel for the first time in such a long time!

It's good to see the FC pieces are in shipment. Hopefully, mine will arrive tomorrow here in Massachusetts.

I have no idea what pieces I'm getting because I didn't ask for a list. It will be a total surprise.

Was the #121 Buffalo NY and Marblehead Ohio made in Canada or Malyasia?

First thing, Rick it is great to hear you are finally getting better big guy and congrats on your newly delivered HL's. Also received mine today: HL106 North Head (brown box, Calif, #7 with a really nice paint job; HL123 Michigan City #7 Mal; HL192 LaJument, HL290 Anclote Key, HL331 Fowey Rocks and HL338 Galveston Jetty all #8.
Big thanks to Tony for taking care of me and getting them out so soon.
Also, a special thanks to Bill Younger for letting us have a slice of these special low number pcs.
One theory as far as the numbering of 1-10 goes, HL starts by numbering at #11 and at some point just sets aside 10 pcs. during the run, numbers them 1-10 and sets them aside in the warehouse w/o really focusing on them being the first run pcs.
For what it is worth, I'm very happy to have some of these special low # pcs that have some significance in that they were tied to Bill Younger. From this point forward, the low numbers are just "low numbers."
Thanks again Tony.

My FC pieces were delivered just as Lorna and I were headed out to dinner. I haven't opened the boxes yet but according to the pack slip here's what should be in the boxes:

HL 129 New London Ledge #8
HL 133 Tybee Island #3
HL 144 Heceta Head #7
HL 163 Cape Canveral #8
HL 164 Pemaquid #8
HL 173 Mantinicus #8
HL 188 Beavertail #8
HL 280 Bullock's Point#7
HL 284 Clark's Point #7

My first ultimate choice was Southeast Light, Block Island but that didn't happen. After choosing the older lights in tier #1, I tried to focus on lights from the New England area in tier #2.

I ended up with nine HL's but I told them I would take twelve if they were available. I'm happy that I was even able to participate. My dealer dropped the ball and it was only through the good graces of Harbour Lights that I was able to get my order in just before the deadline.

Many thanks to Harbour Lights and the Younger Family for making these special pieces available to their faithful collectors. If they have HL's left and they decided to do a second chance offer, count me in!

ALSO, if one of you fellow collectors who received a HL 128 Southeast Block Island, and want to trade for one of the lights I received, let me know. HL 128 was the very first HL I ever purchased and it would be like coming full circle to have that piece from the Founder's Collection.

Very Pleased Here!

HL126 Nauset Beach, MA #4
HL243 Cape Henlopen, DE #4
HL274 Hendericks Head, ME #4

I am very pleased that Tony C., HLs, and even Bill Younger for allowing to sell off his collection, to give us collectors an "opportunity" to own some of the lowest and most desirable Harbour Lights pieces available.

This is truly one of the highlights in 2008 in which I shall cherish and be reminded of Bill each time I look at them. wink

I will add to the statements that have been made; that it appears that Malaysian production was used for numbers 1 thru 10. Did anyone get a Canadian piece for their Tier 1 where original production was in Canada?

I will list mine later but first I have to contact Harbour Lights concerning a slight issue with receipts vs. billed.

Daniel,
Sorry to be so long responding to your question! I needed to get back to my house to check more closely.
Buffalo has a Malaysia sticker! Marblehead has no sticker at all.
Another ting I noticed was neither had a lightening rod. Thought they would! Guess I'll have to go back and re-read the Collectors Guide more closely!
Still, I am very happy w/the pieces I acquired and am grateful to everyone; Bill Younger, Harbour Lights, etc. who made this all possible groupwave
