Hello to all,

I had the chance to travel to Cana Island this past weekend in Door County. What a wonderful lighthouse! I then stopped by Oscar's (a supplier of HL LE and LLOM). She had a Sherwood point, which was a "winner's choice." I looked on HL web-site but was unable to find it in any of the years. Any information regarding this piece (i.e. year, production) would be greatly appreciated.

Also, prior to moving to Wisconsin, I took a trip to Lighthouse Depot in Wells, ME. I saw a piece that was the observatory in Portland ME. Again, unable to find information regarding this item on the HL web-site? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Take care

As for the Portland Observatory, that was a piece the Lighthouse Depot commisioned Harbpour Lights to do, much like the Collectors Forum piece of Eries we'll be doing.

Sherwood Point was chosen by a young guy that went to the lighthouse on a visit when the water was frozen over and fell through; hence the cracked ice at the front left of the piece. It was issued as pc #265 around August of 2001 and retired March, 31 of 2002 with a total issue of 3500 pcs.

That 'Young Guy' is Stephen Sostaric, better known as 'Jakers' to his friends on the Collector Forums.

He's now a Junior at Syracuse University where he has been 'adopted' by Mombo.

Before he headed off to college, he was a very active member of these forums and his parents would take him lighthousing and traveling to gatherings of the WACKOs in the midwest.

I think all of these pieces were produced for Lighthouse Depot and can only be purchased from them.

On another note, I'm looking for information on the Pharo Collection and the British Isles Collection (I recently purchased the latter set and purchased the former set last year). Specifically, how many were produced of each piece and what are the issue & retirement dates? Any other information you can provide would be very helpful. I did a search and read the information the searches provided, but wasn't able to obtain answers to the questions shown here. The inventory I maintain on my collection includes that information as well as any add'l. data I've been able to find.

One of the searches pulled up a bit of a mystery on the British Isles Collection--some vague comments about HL and John Hines and lawyers. Is the background on this collection still on a "need to know" basis or can the general public be better informed than it presently is?

Speaking of Mount Greylock. Received one for my birthday one year ago. Lighthouse Depot advertised 1,800 limit, however, the flag states 1,200. Is 1,200 correct?

I can't locate the email I rec'd. in response to that same question, but my inventory indicates 1,200 as the revised edition size of HB 903, Mount Greylock. Neither it nor HB 904, Pemaquid Point Bell Tower, ME have been retired, but HB 901, Fort Washington Bell Tower, MD and HB 902 Portland Observatory, ME were retired--HB 901 in March of 2002, NB 902 in July of 2002.
