I will be traveling through Indiana (towards Louisville, KY) in September. I will have a few days to spend in Indiana on the way back to Wisconsin. What interesting places, and Harbour Lights stores should I stop and see?

Suzanne - If you're coming through Indiana to Kentucky, I'm going to guess your going east on I80/94 then south on I65. As you come into Indiana on I80/94 there's a vistors center. Take the Kennedy Ave south exit (I think it's exit 3). The vistors center also as the John Dillinger museum in it which is very interesting. There are also 4 casino boats in this area. Just east of I65 on I80/94 you can go to Michigan City and see the two Lighthouses there. There is also a outlet mall with a Harbour Light dealer. I think it's in the building called "The Works". Then there is another in the Marquette Mall. There are antique shops there if you like that kind of thing. And a casino boat there too. That's about it really for NW Indiana. If you go further east on I80 (Indiana Toll Road) in the South Bend area there are things there too. Maybe Paul or Dave can give some ideas along I65. But we have the lighthouses up here. I hope this helps some.

Gee, I could route her here thru Kokomo and take her to see the famed "Steer & Stump". We do have an interesting museum highlighting the reasons Kokomo is called the City of Firsts. It is in the home of Elwood Haynes, inventor of the first automobile, built from start as an automobile. He was well known as an inventor, developing many specialty metals still in use today.

However, Indy is the place. Circle Center Mall downtown is most interesting. There is the Soldiers & Sailors Monument, the State Museum, The Indy Zoo, the gardens, the Eiteljorg (sp?) Museum of the West, NCAA's new headquarters, the country's best Children's Museum (great for big kids too). Of course, their is that 2 1/2 mile oval out in Speedway.

Paul is on the road this weekend to see Bill. I'm sure he will add some on his return.

If your travels carry you close to the South Bend area there is a lot to see. You will definitely want to see Notre Dame University and the College Football Hall of Fame. Here are some links that may help.

Where is the famous Brady HL Museum that everyone is always talking about? Not a word about Indiana from one of the most outspoken Hoosiers on this forum?

We have a wedding going on today and Sue and I have been tied up preparing for that. There were 59 for the rehearsal dinner last night and there will be almost 200 for the reception dinner tonight; the Museum has been a busy place lately. The tours have been mostly relatives from both sides of the marriage.
