Does anyone know if they are leting you on the base to see the st johns lighthouses or know how to find out if it is open for viewing.

Unless you are current or retired military, or have a specific need to get on the base, I think you can forget the idea of getting on the base. You can, however, see the light from the road that takes you to the Mayport Ferry.

A veteran cannot get you onto a base unless he/she is active duty, retired or a disabled veteran(service connected) going to use medical facilities. This is the rule 99% of the time. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule but I wouldn't bet any part of my paycheck on getting on to the base. As a retired member of the Coast Guard, with a base sticker allowing me on to any military base, I still have to show my ID card to get on to Mayport. One time my wife forgot her ID card and I had to sign for her to get onto the base even thought I had my card and base sticker on the windshield. Florida is highly susceptible to illegals trying to use base facilities and has really stepped up security.
