Hi Tom, thanks for the complement. I used a Canon 5D MKII with a 2.8 70-200 lens.
I have a shorter lens but never used it on the entire trip. The ATV and moose photos on the other Topic, I used my pocket Panasonic Lumix. All of the photos are untouched. I've had the 5D MKII a few months, and it's a huge upgrade over my 40D. It also takes HD video which I haven't tried yet. I've found I'm always looking for the money shot at each location. The first photo was a drive by on the train going about 40 mph so the speed of the lens and the camera were a must there.

Bob:

What cruise were you on? Glen and I had done two Alaskan cruises, one in '98 and one in '08. We weren't into lighthouses in '98 but I did have pics of some of the ones in the Inside Passage. In '08 the cruise went to Sitka so we got to see Rockwell from the tender - ship too big to go to the port.

Great photos, Bob. Do you know exactly where the Umatilla lightship was located? I'm going on a cruise up there in 3 weeks and I'd like to get a photo of it. I understand it has been moved from where it used to be so I'm wondering where it is now in relation to Ketchikan. Can you see it from the cruise ship route?

Thanks,
Larry

Ellie - we were on Radiance of the Seas, Royal Carribean

Larry - It was on the way From Ketchican at the cruise port to a Lighthouse, Totem and Eagles excursion. We saw it at a long distance on the excursion boat but I spotted it on the way back to Ketchican. It's on the opposite shoreline from the road.
