Well, it looks like LadyLightKeeper (Barbara Hupp) has planted a seed which has sprouted and shows great potential for bearing fruit.

There appears to be a growing wave of enthusiasm for the "wackos only" cloisonee pin, sales of which could generate revenue for needy lighthouses and successive issues of which could become collector's items. I know I'M in there, pitching.

I do think, however, that for this venture to be successful it needs some sort of group or society name, perhaps an acronym, and I've listed some possibilities below:

Fellowship of
Lighthouse
Advocates
Mitigating
Extinction

Society of
Environmentally
Neutralized or
Threatened
Inspirational
Nearly
Extinct
Lighthouses

Brotherhood of
Enthusiasts
Actively
Coordinating
Our
Noteworthy
Seacoasts

But, I suppose, unlike the above lyrical acronyms, it might end up being something strange and alien like:

Worldwide
Association
Concerned with
Keeping
Our
Sentinels

All seriousness aside, I remain,

Barbara-
here is the content of the lead posting in the link I posted above. I have fixed the links to (I hope) work.

From St. John-
Here's some reading for those new to these forums and wondering what the heck it means to be a WACKO.

HAL - a compendium of 'insider' terms and anacronyms:

You might be a 'WACKO' if...

Dave: Many thanks for transforming the addresses so I could click on to them. I have just spent a fascinating half hour reading and chuckling away. My favorite section is "You might be a Wacko if---"
You ought to send those sayings to Jeff Foxworthy! I keep awake at the wheel each time I make the 3 day drive between MS and NH, by listening to "You Might be a Redneck if ---" How about tape recording these wacko ones to keep me awake on my next trip?! This is part of HL history. Is there an HL historian preserving all this or does all this good humor and serious good lighthouse information disappear someday into CyPer Heaven? I have coined that phrase for where my e-mail messages disappear to before I have a chance to send them off on our computer down South, which has me totally terrorized.

Barbara,

I believe Rod Watson maintains the HL Museum.

Mark and I are starting a Data Haven in the basement of the FSB, but we're waiting for NSA clearance on the heavy crypto. In the meantime we continue backing up all this stuff through an old Betamax VCR and replaying it through our TV, thereby beaming it to distant galaxies for posterity.
