East End from Henlopen Park.
Rufuge of Hope, from the beach at Henlopen Park. This was the only day we had fall like weather.
In and around Henlopen Park are these Submarine towers from World War II. Put a light on them and they could be lighthouses. In fact they have spiral staircases, which do not narrow at the top (seemed kind of strange to me after climbing so many lighthouses).
View from the top of a Submarine tower. To the left East End, to the right Rufuge of Hope and inbetween another Submarine tower and just above East End is the ferry going to Cape May, New Jersey. The other white spots are waves.
We stop at Overfalls again to get the tour of the ship. The two men are volunteers who also helped in the restoration work.
Not shown, we took a quick picture of Bloody Point (Maryland) but it turned out to be a blur.
We stop at Annapolis to see the shops and discovered they had a boat tour to Thomas Point. On the way was the ruins of Greenbrier Screwpile Lighthouse, which was modified to have a light to aid navigation, but that light was recently turned off.
Thomas Point Lighthouse.
We drove around the whole Cheaspeake Bay and over and back to lower Delaware, 1,758 miles. Thank goodness we got to fly home from BWI.
