Talked to Fred tonight. He is in Nevada and is feeling good. He is still going east in the morning and not back South. His dinner was waiting for him as soon as we finished talking. It will be good to see him again.

If you have never met Fred, I thought I would post a recent picture of him so you can keep an eye out for him as he crosses the country on his way to Wisconsin. And here's a picture of his car too, so you'll know what to look for.... Happy motoring Fred, And don't forget to stop by Tim's house for your $200.00

Derith I am so glad you talked to Fred Friday night. I was supposed to call him and completely forgot. I was getting ready for John's birthday party on Saturday and had spent the day buying plants and flowers for the yard. I owe Fred a BIG apology. I'll look forward to seeing Fred in Door County.

Just spoke with Fred, well sort of. He was in Denver and plans to be there for three days. That was about all I got from the conversation as it was a real poor connection. But from what little I was able to hear from him Fred sounded fine.

Fred called me back later last night. Didn't talk long as he said he was outside in order to have a better connection. He said it was cold and there was snow up in the mountains. He is staying in Denver for the three days with a favorite cousin and said the high altitude was problem as he had to have his oxygen turned up high. He'll be staying at the Birchwood in Door County.

I just spoke with the Ancient Mariner and he has arrived safely at his brother's house in Des Moines, Iowa, where he will spend most of the next week until he shoves off for Door County on Friday. He is feeling "pretty good" and much improved since he is back down in the flatlands and can breath easier at that altitude. He is looking foward to seeing everyone in Door County!

It's been awhile since we heard about Fred's whereabouts. Unless Spock or Captain Kirk beamed him up or home to California, where is he? Bob

Fred was joining his son's family on a trip to the outer banks after the Door County event and is scheduled to leave Kalamazoo on or about June 10th to make his way back home by way of the southern route.

Tried to call Fred a couple of times tonight but got his voicemail. This was scheduled to be his second day on the road on his way home, and he had planned to overnight in Jackson, MS. At the same time I saw one of his grandson's on line who told me that Fred was doing ok on his trip, and is expected back home on June 28th.

I did speak with the Ancient Mariner this evening. (Wasn't able to get him yesterday.) He is in MS and hopes to survive the night - seems as if not a lot of choices for motels and he is in a real doozey. He sounded very good, said he traveled a little further than he had planned today. He did mention that he had some breathing problems on the OBX due to the significant humidity.

I did catch up with Fred tonight, and he took a slight detour, and ended up in Tyler Texas and is visiting with a friend there tonight. He will drive on to Dallas tomorrow, and spend Monday and Tuesday there before getting back on the road toward home on Wednesday. All is well with the ancient mariner and he thanks all his friends for checking up on him.

I just got through talking to Fred, he is in Dallas. He said he is running about a day behind on his schedule.. He said he was feeling fine and was just getting ready to eat his supper and since I was about to do the same (eat my supper) we didn't talk longer but we each chowed down..

Since I talked to Fred on Tuesday night and some how manage to post about it on Tuesday night when the site was either down or going down I thought I would bring it to the top of the thread for those who missed the update of Fred's return home..

Talked with Fred this evening. He said he was on the eastern edge of AZ and was going to overnight in Scottsdale. The high altitude was bothering him some but he sounded pretty good. Says he expects to be two days behind schedule but it wasn't a big deal when he got home.

Yep, Fred is heading my way tomorrow. We're planning on dinner together. I also talked to him tonight and he sounded a bit tired.
It's been a real long road trip for Fred and, comparatively speaking, he's 'almost' home.

Fred arrived from Wilcox AZ about 11:30 yesterday and we had lunch at the Village Inn. He like it so much, we went back to Village Inn for supper with Jim Gullo. Here's the photo of two Wackos and an Ancient Mariner: Sail on Fred!

The Ancient Mariner has landed at home! Just spoke with Fred and he arrived at home around 3 or 4 hours ago and has unloaded his vehicle. He thanks everyone for their support and will see the California crowd and visitors this weekend. He is feeling well after his journey but glad to be at home. Another cross country trip under his belt!
