After the Tidewater event Larry and I traveled down the Outer Banks of NC and stopped at wonderful lighthouses. Along the way we kept meeting up with some familiar WACKO's.

We climbed Currituck Lighthouse on a breezy but gorgeous day

We couldn't have asked for a prettier sky when we were at Bodie Light

At Cape Hatteras we were on our way back from dinner after a rain storm and saw a double rainbow, we hurried to the lighthouse and this is what we saw...

The entire way down the OBX we kept running into Mary, Jeff, Mary, and Herm. Larry and I caught the ferry to Cedar Island while the others hung out on Ocracoke.

We made it down to Harkers Island to catch a ferry out to Cape Lookout unfortunately they weren't running due to bad weather....it was the only OBX lighthouse we havn't been to yet...guess it is still on our list. We could see it from a distance but we were a little bummed. Guess we will have an excuse for another outer banks trip.

Very nice, Kat & Larry. Especially like the Hatteras rainbow (even though I only see one.....) Know what you mean about Cape Lookout. When Heather and I were there a number of years ago they wouldn't go out to the light even though the water didn't look that bad.

Great job Kat and Larry but where are your group's slurpies at Ocracoke...

Great pictures, Kat! Nice reminder of the Friday OBX trip. We were lucky enough to hit Ocracoke as a private tour group was leaving, so they let us in for some quick pictures before they had to lock up. Too bad you couldn't make it to Cape Lookout; we didn't even think about it since we had to get back to Portsmouth that same night. As a result of that, however, we were able to see Bodie's Fresnel lens at dusk - what a wonderful sight!

Dave,
By the time we made it out to Cape Hatteras and began shooting pics the second rainbow had disappeared....so only got one of the rainbows in the picture.
I will be down in the OBX in August...around Avon, it is very tempting to try and make it out to Cape Lookout but Larry won't be with me so it just isn't the same.
Our next big adventure will be Hawaii in December! We are looking forward to seeing a few lights then.

Kat, you got some really nice shots at all four of these lights! That rainbow sure was a bonus. I'm so glad you and Larry extended your trip to go to OBX.

I've lost track of how many Wackos made it down to OBX including before and right after the Tidewater event.

It was quite a few! cool

You actually got all the way up to Cape Hatteras after dinner? That was after a late 1pm lunch a the "Pigman"? wink
Timings everything, great rainbow!
The sky and clouds were phenominal that day a Bodie!

Bob,
Isn't the bar-b-q at the Pigman mouth-watering. It was fun running into you and your wife there!! Wish we had the camera with us every time we ran into one of the WACKO group down in the OBX after the Regional Event. We would have taken quite a few pics of familiar faces.
There was a large group in the Pigman Restaurant that day and they had different colored tshirts on, on one it said 'Team Indiana' so I asked one of them where they were from. She said Fort Wayne which is about 20 miles south of us, and then one lady said she worked at one of the banks in Auburn, IN which is out home town....WOW....small world!!

Great pics Kat. You're making me want to head back to the OBX. I just need more time to fit in all the places I want to go. smile
