Jen, thanks for the info on Whitefish- It's been two years this Oct. since we've been up there, looks like that would be a great way to stay there. Our cabin last time left a bit to be desired!

Diane and I stayed there last year in early July and the accomodations were excellent and we had some really nice people sharing the Crew's Quarters with us. The only down side were the dreaded black flies during the day and the horrible attack of the killer misquitos in the evening.

Still, I would highly recommend this for anyone interested.

Looks like my family can't go. My younger kids have climbed dozens of lighthouses yet they require the kids to be 16. My daughter has climbed since she could walk. In fact she has climbed Ponce Inlet many times which is 203 steps, the fourth tallest lighthouse in the United States (2nd tallest if you say brick lighthouse.
I think it stinks. I really don't think safety is the real reason.
Just my 2 cents.

Black flies during the day,....killer mosquitos in the evening,....hmmm! When exactly can you enjoy the great outdoors at the light, in the wintertime?
