Yep, I am headed south to meet up with some of the Tampa Bay Collecters Club. Derith has gotten us to some pretty special and hard to get to lighthouses. I will post an update and some special photos when I return next week!

Sean,

I hope you have a wonderful time. If you're still in Florida on May 28, you may want to go to the Bronze Lady in Orlando. I believe Bill will be there.

Drive safely and have a great trip. If the pictures are anything like your others, I can't wait to see them.

It's Monday morning and I got home last night and will be off to school in a few minutes....Sean and Elizabeth are driving home from St. Augustine today and Dave Hannum should be home in Kokomo. We had a great whirlwind weekend....I'll wait for Sean to tell you about Sat. and part of Sunday. Dave and I did a little extra driving and flew over some lights I will tell you about tonight. I had wonderful time and I think everyone else did....It is absolutely great to be a WACKO!

I broke the CDrom tray on my computer with my knee. It will be a couple days until I can upload the photos. Stay tuned for graves, lighthouses, wildlife and wackos!

Something for everyone!

Sorry to here about the tray Sean..I know you have some great images to share.....

I'll tell a tad about the weekend and know that others will fill in with their reports.

My husband and I drove to Orlando Saturday morning and picked up Dave Hannum from the airport and hurried on our way to Cape Canaveral. There we were met by Sean and Elizabeth Thompson and teacher friend and her daughter. We received the "red carpet" treatment and were on the Cape for about 5 hours....the lighthouse was the highlight of the tour but were shown a myraid of things. The climb to the top was full of surprises as we found living quarters at the first several levels...many stories were shared as we climbed...our guide is new in the position, but loves history and had learned alot in a short time he has been there. We did take lots of photos and spent as much time at the top as we could.....on our way back to the visitors center, we visited graves of one of keepers and his family....

From here, Dave Hannum and I drove to Apalachicola, FL and flew over Cape St. George and Cape San Blas...the new pad under Cape St. George has straighted it nicely. It looks like Cape San Blas has a new house that has been built near the older one. (I am going back to the area this coming weekend and do these on land and I'll find out for sure.)

We were running late, because of fog, but we made our next appointment with Sean and Elizabeth in Cedar Key. Our host ferried us out to Seahorse Key, to use an old southern term, "boy howdy", what a real thrill. We spent about an hour on this isolated island and enjoyed every hot minute.

After a meal together, at one of the Cedar Key restaurants, we parted ways. The Thompson duo headed to St. Augustine and Dave and I headed back to Orlando so he could catch his plane back to Indy. When I got home Sunday night I was still pumped from the whirlwind, but GREAT lighthousing weekend.

Okay, Sean and Dave, tell everyone your version...

Now, how many of you would be willing to make plans to do something like that next May?

Derith

Was all this in one day, Derith or two? Sounds like a great time! How many "connections" did you have to pull this trip off?

Too bad about that knee Sean!

Nana, I'm in Fl but I would LOVE to go on such a tour. I have never had a chance to get close to Canaveral, though I have tried. Let me know.

Let me give you folks a hint ---- this is a trip WELL worth the effort! We had a fantastic time at the Cape. In fact, I think we all could have easily spent the whole day with Sonny, learning the history of the Cape. He is truly a person in love with his job, and it showed!

Derith presented Sonny with a Cape Canaveral OE in appreciation of his tour..
