Looking forward to a lighthouse trek with Eric and the Scroopes beginning next week. Know any good restaurants along the way? Pelican Point, near the Sapelo Ferry, is on our agenda already. All suggestions are appreciated.

I thought Barbara Jean's at St Simons made excellent crab cakes and it was just down the way from the light. It's been awhile since I was there 2005 I think, hopefully they are still there and the food is as good as I recall.

It was recommended to me and my traveling partner by the ladies manning the gift shop in the light.

In the Charleston and Hilton Head areas if you are in the mood for ribs go to Sticky Fingers.

It's a small chain and there are other sites but those are the two I'm familiar with.

If you're on Hilton Head Island, go to the Sea Shack. Great little seafood restaurant. Great food, great prices. Its hidden, so its a local's secret. (I used to live there)

For BBQ, Sticky Fingers is good, but I recommend The Smokehouse. Its much better. Its also on Hilton Head Island.

I forgot about the Sea Shack - i'll add my reccomendation to that one.

Haven't been to the Smokehouse- maybe we'll give it a try later this month when we're in SC.

On Tybee Island, there are several great restaurants. The one right near the bridge near the Cockspur Lighthouse/ Ft. Pulaski area where you take the dolphin cruises has excellent food. You can eat on their upper deck and have a view of the Cockspur light, the Tybee Island light and Ft. Pulaski all at once.
