Old Cape Henry Lighthouse in Virginia Beach, VA is OPEN!!
Though security has increased at Fort Story, site of the Cape Henry Lighthouses, the Old tower, visitor center and gift shop are open for visitation. To enter Fort Story, use the EAST or 89th Street entrance, have photo ID ready and anticipate possible and random vehicle searches. All cartop carriers, towed vehicles and RVs are subject to searches. The East gate opens to visitors at 9:30AM and closes at approximately 3:30PM. The Old lighthouse is open from 10AM to 4PM.

Also, holiday illumination of the Old Cape Henry tower will begin on December 11 and remain lit until January 2, 2002 from 5PM to 10 PM every evening. Though the tower will be CLOSED to climbing from December 5 to January 4, 2002 for safety reasons, the excellent gift shop and visitor center will remain OPEN.
