We are thinking of taking our vacation seeing the Keweenaw Pennisula. I'm looking for decent motel that is maybe centerally located to everything. Had thought about pulling our 5th wheel up and camping, but after experiencing some of the co roads in the U.P.-I don't know. Plus price of gas. It's still an option. If we for some reason have to limit our time there...what lights or sights do I definitely not want to miss(besides all of them!)? confused

Don't remember the name, but there is a very nice state park campground at the southeastern corner of the Keewanaw Peninsula. Several years ago we camped there and just made the daily drive up into the peninsula which wasn't too bad at the time. If you want to camp up on the peninsula itself, be sure to have reservations!

There are lots of mom & pop motels in Copper Harbor. There is an AmericInn in Calumet which is halfway up the peninsula. There are mom & pop motels in Houghton-Hancock and also name brand hotels. You should make a reservation ahead of time if you want a decent place to stay.

WILD has had a boat trip on Lake Superior out of Houghton the last two years and is having another one August 7-9 this year. We have stayed at a variety of hotels mostly in the Houghton area. In the past, I have stayed at places in Copper Harbour,a mom & pop near Calumet, and various hotels in Houghton.

Debbie, if you can get in a room, you need to stay at the Sand Hills Lighthouse... It is a Bed and Breakfast and while it is a little expensive, it is well worth it.. The rooms are Great and the Breakfast is outstanding!!!
