Carol & I visited the EAA (Experimental Air Association) AirVenture 2004 in Oshkosh, WI on July 27th on our journey to meet our WACKO friends in Houghton. The cruises and lighthousing tours that we went on have been nicely documented on the Forums by WackoPaul and others. During our visit to the AirVenture, I was particularly interested in the Warbirds area and am posting some photos I took of some beautiful restored aircraft: P51 Mustang P40 Warhawk "Flying Tiger" A1 Skyraider, PG-rated F86 Sabre Jet Late in the afternoon we were treated to a 2-1/2 hour long airshow where pilots demonstrated their aerobatic skills, the Warbirds showed off the performance (a Marine gull-winged Corsair was awesome!) of their aircraft, and the AeroShell precision flying team wowed the crowd with their close flying manuevers. All in all we had a great day and can’t wait to go back. We were there for one day of the week long show and guess we saw only 10% or less of what was there. Dan edited to fix links

Hi Dan, ...Loved the photos! What a great day you had amongst those vintage planes. Some of our area airports, like Mansfield and Norwood, get periodic visits and offer paid rides in the "Warbirds". I don't like to fly so I never go up. Many years ago I was up on the roof of the then "Foxboro Stadium" and a B-17 and a B-24 did two three-sixties around the stadium prior to the start of the game. I had the best vantage point of all but no camera . I don't think they would let any aircraft get that close anymore. They do have one or two F-16 fly-bys each season but that's about it. Any more plane pics? If so, please share them...thanks! Bob

Cool, Dan! I was waiting to see those. Did you bump into my inlaws in a 172 Cessna that was brown and tan? Thanks for sharing!

Wow Dan! That looks like a fun day. Occasionally, there is air shows at Hill Air Force Base which is about 40 miles north of where I live. I always enjoy watching the Thunderbirds perform.

Bob, Do have more photos and will try and post a few more. Jen: There were thousands of planes there. One tan and brown one would have been lost in the masses. Lorie: 999 posts .... one more and you become a WACKerino or something like that!! Dan
