Hey Bob, is that a newer pier on the far right (the green thing)? Just going by memory I don't remember it from the reunion cruise.
It does bring back some great memories from the reunion, Thanks

I actually have a lighthouse video from 1988 that has a segment on Rose Island, in much disrepair. It's great to see it like this. I saw it last year on our Newport RI drive.
Marblehead, Mass. Lighthouse, you will always have a very special place in our hearts. ....We've made the journey as far south as New Jersey, as far north as Canada. Over 100 lighthouses visited.... and so many more to go.

I'm heading to Rose Island tomorrow for a trip to the lighthouse. As I have never been to the area before, I'm curious if there are any other lighthouses that can be seen via the Ferry or via car. Goat Island, perhaps? We are on a tight schedule, so I probably won't be able to stop at other lighthouses. The weather is a bit iffy, but I'll post picutres if they turn out halfway decent.

Goat Island Light is easily accessible by walking around the hotel that it is adjacent to. You should definitely drive out to Castle Hill Light which is only about 5 minutes from the center of Newport. Drive into the parking lot for the Castle Hill Inn and go way down to the left. The light is just a short walk through the woods. There are usually many people there on the weekends. Don't forget to go over the Newport Bridge on to Jamestown to see Beavertail Light. That is only about 15 minutes from where you will be to go to Rose Island. Bob

Aaahhh. this thread brings back great memories of a snowy day, sitting in front of my computer on this site, digging into the archives to find 50 places to post to become Wacko. I've gone a long way, considering this is my 224th post...
