We are heading to Myrtle Beach this weekend and will have some time to swing by Oak Island lighthouse. I know that we can get a ferry from Southport out to Bald Head, but we won't have time to do that.

My question is: seeing as they look fairly close together on a map, can you get a distant view of Old Baldy from anywhere near Oak Island light?

Larry, you can see both Oak Island Light and Bald Head Island Light from the waterfront in Southport. You can also see both lights from the Highway 133 bridge that connects Oak Island to the mainland. If you want to see Price Creek Lighthouse you need to take the NC ferry from Southport to Ft Fisher. As soon as you leave the Southport Dock, look to the left and you will see Price's Creek. Look right and you will see Oak Island and Bald Head.

Larry, too bad you can't get over to Old Baldy. It's a great little island to spend a day on. You could rent a golf cart and drive the whole island in about two hours. Well that depends on how long you stay at the lighthouse and gift shop. Next time you're in the area you'll need to allow more time. Have fun. The weather is supposed be fantastic! Finally!
