Reading the details of Dennis' trip, got me curious. How many lights does everyone have on the Chesapeake Chapter's 40+3 list?
http://www.cheslights.org/40+3club.htm

I'm a litle more than halfway there: 20+2, with every intention of adding 10 more within the next year.

I'm betting that the Chesapeake Light Tower is the sticking point for most people.

After reviewing the list I am at 31+3, that is counting lights viewed from a distance.

I'm at 24 + 1. Hopefully I'll be able to add more to that count this next year.

I'm 35 +3 with only one of those from a distance. Should be adding at least 2-3 next summer.

I checked my list, and I am at 36 + 1. My every intention is to have seen all of them by the end of this year. My very favorite is Wolf Trap.

I'm at 33+3 and 1 in the wayyyyyyy off. Don't know if I can add any in the next year, but sure hope so!

Interesting to see how many real lighthouse wackos we have here. So far on this list, we have 3 from Indiana, 1 each from Florida and Washington, as well as NJ, a NY/MD type, as well as the "locals" from Maryland and Virginia. All with a good start on the 40+3 list.

Dave - add one respondent from Missouri. We're 30 + 2 counting Old and New Cape Henry from outside Fort Story and Cape Henry from the bridge.

I'm not afraid to count the "distant" ones. The way I read the rules is: if you say you saw it, they believe you. My list includes Cape Charles from the bridge at 55mph, Fort Carroll from the Francis Scott Key Bridge and Baltimore Light leaning over and squinting left from Sandy Point.

Larry,

If I had not had time to explore a little I was going to count Baltimore the same way you did.

At least I think that dark spot up river was a lighhouse.

I've got 27 + 3 - all seen in October during our 2 week lighthousing trip revolving around the reunion in Baltimore.

My total so far comes to 35+3. I worked some of these lights including refueling Chesapeake Light Tower (Ches. Light). Glad I didn't have that duty of 6 weeks on, 6 weeks off before it was automated.

I am 0 +0

I hope to change that soon. My 5 year plan is to see all of the west coast and the east coast up through New York. One of my life goals is before I die I want to see all of the USlights including Alaska, Hawaii. I just counted today and so far I have seen 72

I'm currently at 31 + 2. This weekend we are taking our 15' Boston Whaler for a trip on the lower Chesapeake. Hope to see 9 + 1 (although the Chesapeake Tower is a little far out on the ocean for a little boat). That would leave only Jones Pt. and Ft. Washington. Last year we did the upper Chesapeake. We've seen them all up close.
I guess I should join the Chesapeake Chapter if I want to get a patch.

I had to print the list and figure out how many I have seen. Most of the Virginia lights I saw while my son was in college in Virginia. Most of the Maryland lights I saw while I was at the Baltimore Reunion. I haven't seen anything in Delaware.

I'm at 19 + 2. (12 + 1 in Maryland, 7 + 1 in Virginia)

We just got back from our weekend adventure and managed to find 10 lighthouses on the Chesapeake that we missed the last time around. I now stand at 37 + 3 just like Bryan. We decided against trying to see the Chesapeake Light Tower with our little boat. You probably would have seen in the paper "Two Wackos drown trying to see light tower".

We will next take a drive down to see Ft. Washington and Jones Point since they are a "road trip" away.

Our favorite light on this trip was Sting Ray Point. That's the replica built this past year at the Deltaville Marina. The details inside were outstanding. The center column is actually a piece of unfinished pine. Round and everything.

Our most upsetting light...Fishing Battery. We were able to pull up to the island and look around. How sad! The building is made of brick but the roof and lantern are in really bad shape. No windows left. I hope someone will step in to try to save this one.

I have pictures I can download but I can't remember how to do it. Maybe I'll look into it and try to post some by tomorrow.

29+3 for me now. My missing lights are mostly from my own home state of Maryland. All of them require a boat to get out to with the exception of Fort Washington which I will see on the MD Challenge. The others are off shore VA lights.

I'm 17 + 2 and expect to get to 9 more lights in September. My biggest void is in Virginia .. have only visited the Assateague light. frown

Way to go Bryan. What's left? Chesapeake Tower and...??

Have you seen the Bethel Bridge Replica in Chesapeake City, MD at the C&D Canal Museum? Then you could be 38+3+2.

I amazed myself! I figured out that I'm 7+2 (I was thinking I was about 4 or 5 +1). Still far behind a lot of you (like Bryan!) but I still have time... laugh
