Yorktown Lightship Lantern at the Aids to Navigation in Yorktown, Virginia. Cut away model of Coast Guard Buoy Tender. Lighthouse Service Fog Bell. Old Point Comfort. Old Point Comfort Lantern Room. Guns at Fort Monroe protecting Old Point Comfort. This day was hazy, so we saw Thimble Shoal from the fort, you can barely see it in the picture and down the road Newport News Middle Ground from Martin Luther King Park was the same, so I did't post those two. Portsmouth Lightship.

Grace it was a great trip. I believe more planning went into this trip then the D-DAY Invasion of World War II (just ask my wife). More to come.

Some of my favorite stops! Eric, did you get a guided tour of the NATON museum, or did the CG let you explore on your own? Maybe a little of both?
I really like that shot of the cannon with Old Point Comfort in the background.
Thanks again!

Judy, it was a guided tour, but we could stay as long as we liked. CWO Farr was very informative.

Eric, the Coast Guard loves for us lighthouse folks to visit there. Did you get one of the brochures about the museum?
Not all the lenses actually are marked as to what lighthouse they came from. Some are; some aren't. Some, they don't actually know. The lens from Thimble Shoals is there, and I think it is one that's not marked.
The first time I was given a tour and walked in and saw the lightship lens and the rotating fourth order, I felt like I was seeing giant Harbour Lights!
