Adding pictures if you'd like to see them. They were actually quite good but seem to be a bit fuzzy here.

Returned last night from a few days in Boston. First I would like to thank Bob M and Greed for their excellent suggestions as to which lights to look for. On Thursday my daughter and I saw Boston Light, Graves, Minot's and Scituate. It was a bit cool and windy but not too bad. I was so excited standing on the hill at the end of Hull looking through my binoculars at Boston Light that I was shaking. But then maybe it was the wind and the cold??? Then on Friday daughter, son-in-law and I drove to Gloucester and saw Ten Pound Island, Eastern Point, Gloucester Breakwater, Twin Lights on Thatchers Island, Straitsmouth in Rockport and Annisquam. I was navigator, daughter the spotter and son-in-law driver. If he could have understand what "turn right" meant we may have gotten a little better view of some of them. It was a beautiful, cloudless day and hopefully I got some good pictures. It was actually a good time to go as it was too early for the "tourists". In Rockport I purchased "Massachussetts Lighthouses, A Pictorial Guide" by Courtney Thompson which has lots of color pictures including some old views as well as histories and directions to the lights. It's a good book and made a nice souvenier of my trip. It was really great to see some of the HL lights present and future.

Almost forgot, on Saturday we saw the Nantucket Lightship. It was at a place called Marina Bay (or something like that). You take the road to Squantum and follow the red signs. A sign at the harbor said it was open as a museum Sat & Sun from 1-5pm. Don't know if that meant in the summer but in any event we were there earlier than 1p.

Now if I had added the pictures in a reply instead of an edit I wouldn't have had to have done this twice.

Thanks for the wonderful photos and information. My daughter (14) and I have selected MA as the next area we are to visit lighthouses. We are planning our trip for April 3-7, 2000 and plan on flying in Boston and renting auto. To date we have explored lighthouses from Key West, FL to Thomas Point Shoal,MD.
I would welcome any and all suggestions on a route to maximize our trip.

Welcome Otrbanks - glad you made your first post.

You'll love Cape Cod. Lots of lighthouses and most are easily accessible.

I'll try to dig up the itinerary we took last October. But in the meantime, you'll hear back from others too.

John
