Esther and I got to the ship for our trip out to monhegan Island bright and early- at 7:15- and there were already some people waiting by the dock.

Tom came down and let us on the ship at about 7:20 or so and the day was started. The boat provided coffee and danish for free and had eggs and bacon and toast for a minimal fee. It was all good- we drank so much coffee they had to start charging us for it. laugh

The start of the trip was a repeat of the night before as we cruised on by both Rockland Breakwater and Owl's Head LH's.

Here are some photos from Saturday of them.

Roclkand Breakwater

Owl's Head

We continued on our way to monhegan Island and passed this house along the way- it just has a lighthouse feel to it. there were many houses in Trenton that utilizd this style- unfortunately in the 50's and 60's they were turned into apartment houses with 3-6 apartments in them and most deteriorated quickly.

We cruised on to our first new light of the day- Tenant's Harbor. This one is presently owned by the Wyeth family and they built a studio that Jamie Wyeth worked in and built it using plans from a fog signal building.

In this photo it gives the mistaken idea that Tenat's Harbor looks like this-

Here is a better photo of Tenant's Island Lighthouse-

This photo shows both the lighthouse and the studio along with the house the Wyeths live in while there.

We continued on our way and our next light was Marshall's Point lighthouse. Here's a photo showing both the LH and the Keeper's house. there is a very nice museum here. you can drive out to this lighthouse.

Here's a photo of just the Marshall Point Lighthouse from a slightly different angle-

We continued on our way to Monhegan Island. We had to waste some time as another ship was coming into the dock at monhegan Island and it had preference over us so we circled the island and got to see the cliffs on the opposite side of the island from the dock area.

Here's a photo of Monhegan Island Lighthouse taken from the boat as we cruised around the island.

This shot is of the lighthouse from "downtown" Monhegan Island.

Here's one from the top of the lighthouse. This was the only LH we got to climb on this NELL trip. It is very seldom opened for visits and they had to get a special rider on their insurance policy to let us in. you can see many of NELL's members resting below.

Here's a photo closeup of the LH. It was next to impossible to get photos with nobody in them.

Here's a photo of our ship waiting off the dock for us- there is only room for one ship at a time so it had to wait about 300 yards offshore while we were exploring th lighthouse and shops of Monheagan Island

We left monhegan Island and cruised our way by Two bush Island for our last LH of the day- Two bush Island.

In this first shot you can see the seagulls being chased by an eagle.

This second shot is a bit closer view of the lighthouse.

We continued back to the dock passing by Owl's Head and Rockland Breakwater again. It was about 7 PM when we pulled in- a bit longer than expected but a good time was had. good people, good food and very nice weather. We were expecting to get rained on all day and we had sunshine most of the day- especially when we were at monhegan island. It was a bit overcast in the morning at the other lighthouses but we never got any rain.

We were on our own for dinner and taking Tom's reccomendation Esther and I went to a place called Cody's Original roadhouse- a steak and seafood place a bit like the old Ground round restaurants.

We had a very good dinner- and actually spent the whole time talking to Vicki & Alex who were also there for the NELL meeting.

Thanks Sue.

It's a bit long but we spent 10 days seeing 45 lighthouses in 1 state and 2 provinces so there's alot to say and show.
