We plan to be in Holland on Friday, July 11 during our week long Michigan lighthousing trip. We have our Penrose book of Michigan lights and road maps all ready. However, from you experienced Big Red photographers what is the best place to photograph this light and directions to these areas? I have read about the famous gated area and don't want to step on any toes while there but still want to get some good pictures. Thanks.

Tom,

I'd make a stop at the state park on the north side. You can get excellent pictures, and can often get a reflection from the channel. (Remember in my email I told you that you would be visiting a lot of state parks???) The park is only about 10 minutes or so from US31, and only gets jammed up the last little bit when you are on a two lane road going along the beach.
