Has anyone been to Anacapa Island off of the coast of California? Is it possible to get there to see the lighthouse? Is it a major hassle? So far, I've only found charters that will take you for a half day or more.

Yep, it's a great trip. It's a minimum of half the day just to get out there get back and to have enjoyed the lighthouse and Island. Make sure you are in pretty good shape. There are quite a few steps to climb when you get to the island and you must climb up a ladder from the stern of a boat while it rocks and rolls in the swells. We had lots of fun on our visit, a trip you don't want to cut short.

I've been in Ventura on business several times and never seem to be able to time my free time when I'm there to be able to get out to Anacapa. I'm envious!!!!

Never made it to Analcapa Island. It ends up there are only all day trps to the island this time of year. Did not have enough time to spend at one place. Instead I drove up the cost from LA to Monterrey. Talk about beautiful!! Saw 2 lighthouses on the way. A few were in the area but closed to the public because they were either on a military site or a nuclear power plant. Had a great time in LA and then San Diego.

If you drove all the way up to Monterey, Carol, I hope you did get to see Point Sur and Pt Pinos. Both are beautiful lighthouses!
