On my way to the Sandy Hook Lighthouse Volunteer Dinner last night I finally stopped along the way to get a shot of the Conover Beacon in Leonardo, NJ. I've only passed by it many times over the past 2 years without bothering to stop. Just thought I'd share.

Nice picture Shirin! Interesting beacon. Seems like it is fixed to only one area as opposed to one that can be seem from a wider range of places. No pun intended, but can you share some light as to what kind of beacon it is? By the way congratulations on going past the 600 mark. I always enjoy your posts.

Very nice Shirin. I always enjoy looking at your excellent photos. It seems that the light from the beacon shines out from the opening that faces the water?

Great picture Shirin, Its funny I lived in New Jersey for 36 years and only seen this light from the water at a distance. Looks real good up close.

The Conover Beacon is a front range light which is why it points in one direction. I think the Chapel Hill rear range lighthouse is the seond part of the range.

You are correct... Chapel Hill, which is now a private residence(lucky person) is the rear range light....

I have heard to get a closer look at Chapel Hill, the people @ Twin Lights can give you their phone number & name. They are fine with you coming if you simply call ahead.
I have seen Conover twice. The second time, the surrounding fence and the lighthouse door were open, and I got to peek inside. I did not climb the tower, as the steps were all rusted, and I have heard that there is a beesnest in the lantern.
The light has some graffiti and a plastic chair inside, leading me to believe that some kids use it as a hangout.
I hope to get to have the privilege of a close up look at Chapel Hill one day, and I hope my tip helps.
