In 1964 I was following my husband's ship around the Med. I spent 5 weeks in Europe. The first port we met in was Valencia, but before that I met my sister in Madrid and we went to Lisbon. I photographed this lighthouse on the river Tagus - don't know which side of the river. I am unable to determine what lighthouse it is.

I took this picture out of the bus window on a city tour.

I think it is a false lighthouse the Belem Doca de Bom Successo.

At the tower of Belem, I took this picture of a little ATON

We also visited Cabo da Roca

which has been determined to be the westernmost point of the Eurasian continent.

Can't anyone tell me what lighthouse this is?

I've looked through all the lighthouses in the Lighthouse Directory for Portugal and can't find it.

No wonder I couldn't find it. Someone on a travel site has finally identified what happened to the lighthouse.

It was was built in Cacilhas (just across the river from Lisbon) in 1886, and moved to Azores in 1978, to replace Serreta lighthouse, in Terceira, destroyed by an earthquake. After strong protests from local people, in 2004 it was decided to rebuild the lighthouse in Cacilhas, with the same apearence and aproximately in the same place. It was finished last July, but, so far, the lighthouse is... red, still with some discussion.

I am still struggling with US lighthouses and you are researching lighthouses all over the world. Very cool. I always enjoy your pictures and travels,
