After much researching and a lot of help from friends here on the forums (Hi Derith & Dennis & Jim) we are almost ready for our trip to the West Coast.

We are leaving Saturday -- January 27th and flying into Portland. Very early Sunday we are off to North Head and Cape Disappointment. We were originally going to go to Grays Harbor first, but the tower is closed due to lead paint and the museum doesn't open until 12:00.

After that, it's down the whole coast of Oregon. We are staying at Haceta Head B & B and across from Coquille at the Lighthouse B & B.

Then we will eventually make our way towards San Francisco. On Friday night, we will be staying at East Brothers light. Then we will try to see as many lights as we can around San Fran. Don't know about Yerba Buena -- still trying to get permission from the Admiral to visit his light. If anyone has clout with the Admiral of the Coast Guard's 11th District, please put in a good word for us.

We will leave for home on Thursday, February 8.

We will be keeping a log and you guys will be subjected it to when we get back, but we won't have any way of posting it until we get back. Mike bought me a log book with a lighthouse on it for Christmas so I could keep the log.

If anyone has any last minute suggestions or comments, please let us know.

Thanks.

Good Luck and Good Weather on your Trip. We will look forward to hearing from you about each and every L/H. We were debating between the West Coast and the Great Lakes for our trip this year and have picked the Great Lakes but the West Coast will be next.( We hopeto do that trip in 2002.) So please keep a good Log and let us know.

Again hope all goes well.

Patty and Mike,

Have a great trip. Hope you get to many great lights.

The hardest part is being in more than one place at a time. They all seem to be open only on certain days and those are usually the same days.

Try hard to get to Pt Reyes (very time consuming to get there, but worth it) and Pt Bonita. The view of it coming around the corner over the bridge is priceless.

I'm envious. I passed on staying at East Brothers. One of my regrets of the trip.

Enjoy, and we'll be waiting for the story (and pictures). Glad we could help in some small way.

Dennis

My first question? Do you have room in your suitcase for a stowaway?
