Just got back from seeing 7 lighthouses this weekend. Saw Hunting Island, Sea Pines, Tybee Island, Cockspur Island, Sapelo Island, St. Simons Island, and Amelia Island. Was very fun and very hot. Sapelo looks amazing for those who haven't seen the restoration.

Sounds like a great trip, John, in very little time! How about some detail for those of us who would like to follow in your footsteps?

Here is how my girlfriend and I made this trip work:
Friday: Left Tampa at 5am and arrived at Hunting Island around noon. Left Hunting Island a little after 1pm and arrived at Sea Pines at 2:50 (lots of traffic getting there). The late arrival forced us to miss a boat that would have gone past Haig Point. We left Hilton head around 3:45pm and arrived at Tybee Island a little after 5pm. Left Tybee around 6:30 and stopped to take pictures of Cockspur Island from the bridge.
Saturday: Left from jekyll Isalnd and took the tour of Sapelo Island, which included climbing the lighthouse. After the tour, we stopped on St. Simons and stayed there until 4pm or so. The museum and light are very well kept up.
Sunday: Left Jekyll Isalnd and stopped on Amelia Island before returning home to Tampa.

All in all in all, it was a very busy weekend, but it was more than worth it. We have yet to start planning our next trip, but it will be sometime in the fall.

John
