Continued from an afternoon in Door County

We headed South towards Indy down the Southeastern coast of Wisconsin from our hotel in Sturgeon Bay.. First stop is Algoma Pierhead Light located on the Northside of the entrance of the Ahnapee River

Walking to the end of the South Pier, rewards me with a nice angle for a reflective shot of the light on the North pier in the morning light..

I next took the long walk out to the end of the pier at Kewaunee to shoot the Pierhead Lighthouse from the east side of the light..

This guy was a little upset that I was walking on his pier..

Then as we are getting ready to go down the coastline, I found this location to shoot the most of the pier and light, plus what looks like the remains of an old dock or pier..

You can't miss the Two Rivers Lighthouse since they moved it to it's location right along the state road 42..

The Fishing Museum has done a nice job of keeping the light in prime condition..

A quick shot of the Manitowoc Breakwater Light and then I turned around and shot the next two images for Mombo!

Mombo they are almost finished loading up your summer beer supply.. then the tanker will be on it's way to your house...

Your kind of tower eh, Sue?

The Sheboygan Breakwater Light was drawing a lot of fishermen at about 1pm.. We also saw a great location for a future Reunion while driving out to the pier..

Port Washington Light Station is really looking good and the sky was outstanding when we got there for this image..

A quick shot of Port Washington Pierhead Light after we ate lunch at Harry's..

Do you recognize this tower?

this Active (privately maintained) lighthouse was built by the Kevich family in 1981, this lighthouse has the highest focal plane of any active U.S. Great Lakes lighthouse (keyword lighthouse)..

Greak pics! I wish I lived closer to the Great Lakes area. It's amazing how many lighthouses there are up there. I grew up in Pennsylvania and now I live in Florida and there aren't that many around here to visit. It seems as though we could go lighthousing every weekend and not see all of the lights in your area!

Kathy, we live in Indy, it was still over a 4 hour drive from the Kevich family's lighthouse to our driveway.. A long day but worth every minute of it..

It's been a long time coming, but I see they finally took the year-around Christmas lights off Two rivers to paint it. Looks great!

Thanks Paul, first of all for some faster loading images. The others that you posted seemed to take forever.

Did you skip Rawley Point on purpose?

At Two Rivers, is the man in the lantern room gone?

When I was trying to find Manitowac last spring I got a bit off course but did manage to find that building with the beer bottles on the side of it! I do think that boat load of beer will be more than enough! Thanks Paul. laugh

I was just at Rawley Point last Fall and they are doing some restoration sometime this year, so I made the decision to skip it and go for the Kevich family lighthouse before skipping the Milwaukee and on South lights to get home before midnight..

The man is still there but has sunk down lower and you can't see him from those angles..

The beer should be on it's way!!

Paul,

Though belated, let me pile on with my thanks for tour photo essay. From here in the East, I so seldom see "live" shots of these lights and your posting was much appreciated.

As good as they all are, I maybe liked the very first two best, the solitary red reflected in the calm waters ...

Thanks again,
Barry
