In two weeks, I am leaving for a 15 day Scandinavian cruise. I am wondering if others have cruised the Baltic and North Seas and been able to see any lighthouses from the ports. We start in Dover, England and go the Scandinavian capitals. Thanks for any infomation anyone might have.

Wow, what a wonderful trip Lorie! Check out the sites on the "Internet Index of Lighthouse Links" if you have not already done so. And take lots of pictures for us to see!

If you have any extra time in Dover, don't miss Dover Castle and it's lighthouse from 40 A.D. The secret wartime tunnels is included, facinating!

Thanks for the information Sue. I hadn't thought about Dover. I was curious if anyone had seen any obvious lighthouses from the port cities. I'll have to do more research. It should be a fun adventure!

Lorie:

Three years ago I took a 14 day cruise along the north coast of Norway - basically from Copenhagen, Denmark all the way to the North Cape and then returned to London. I saw a number of lighthouses from the ship (although some at quite a distance) but not very many in the ports. Before I left on the trip I went to a local map store and bought a map on the area we were going to be cruising. It showed a number of lighthouses and their names on the map which was very helpful in knowing when and where to look as well as the names for photos, etc. You might want to do the same. Also, be sure to bring binoculars.

Have a great trip.

Larry
