Great Pictures
That is some bridge to cross. Are those star fish in the last picture.

Is that bridge generally open for people to cross or was this something special the Pixie setup?

Another great "Bob" adventure! Thanks for taking us along with you, Bob. I don't recall seeing close-ups of Cape Arago before.

Wonderful to see it at last. I attempted to find the lighthouse while I was out there in the Coos Bay area, but evidently took a wrong turn and ended up south of it---in the company of several hundred barking seals [SEALS...not ROCKS!] Thereafter, I went on south and compensated by spending a total of twelve-plus hours at Coquille River light.

This was a special trip. We were there in March with the Indian Tribe that owns the burial ground on shore and were told the bridge was to dangerous to cross. This time Pixie got a young Coast Guard to take us in. She said she had these heavy duty photo lh nuts that would love to get upclose with the LH and he said he had the key to the gate of the bridge. He was overwelmed with our thankfulness, joy, and general enthusiam to get this opportunity!

What is the approximate length of the bridge? Is is just that decayed and weak-that made it dangerous?

The bridge was very solid to walk on. Just another excuse to not let people in. I guess there are liability issues? :rolleyes:

I am glad you show some far off pictures so we can appreciate the bridge and the terrain around the light.
So many times, especially on the lighthouse websites, all you ever see is the lighthouse itself without its surroundings. Your pictures of the surroundings help us, who never have seen Cape Arago get the real feel of the atmosphere of being there.

Nice job, Bob.. When we were out there it was completely socked in by fog.. Thanks for posting!!

Thanks for sharing your photos, Bob. They are great. When we went across the bridge we were warned not to touch the bridge because of all the bird poop! Your photo shows the evidence of that!
