In years past, the 2nd half releases including the annual Xmas piece were generally announced before the last week of June. Last year, the forum was able to correctly identify the 2nd half releases before the HL official announcement. Anybody has any knowledge, "hints" or guesses?

Wow! The 1st HL I will purchase this year. Knew this was coming out from previous posts - looks fabulous. Now I will have to buy a few more coast guard AB's as well.

OOH YEAH! SEA GIRT GLOW!!! SEA GIRT GLOW!!! SEA GIRT GLOW!!! laugh laugh laugh

Finally! I'm glad to see "my light" considered a Great Lighthouse of the World!!!

I like that Raspberry too...a very large looking piece, but it's a large light. I feel there is some good detail on the delicate intricacies of Alpena's skeletal supports. Northwest Passage, never heard of it, but looks nice...looks like a Gone But Not Forgotten to me...that 3,000 piece

Presque is my only complaint. If I remember, Presque Isle has already been released as an LE. Whether or not it has, I don't like either a) rereleasing it as an LE with a few little Halloween decorations or b) making a Halloween decorated version the original release. LEs should be for first-releases, but I guess we've broken that anyway several times, so it doesn't matter as much.

Under 4,500 edition sizes should be interesting...maybe it will bring up the demand with less supply. Maybe that's a pipe dream. We shall see. But all in all, a good second half.

I believe this is Old Presque Island which I think is different from the snow covered version releases many years ago. I'm not sure whether I like the ghosts, but considering many lighthouses are suspected to be haunted, maybe this is a funny addition. I think it will actually sell out at 3,000.

Different Presque Isle. Snow covered version was the one in Erie PA. This one is in located in Rogers City, MI. It is referred to as New Presque Isle (as opposed to Old Presque Isle located a few miles away, which actually is reputed to be haunted.) If memory serves me right, this is the tallest tower on the Great Lakes. Just to add to confusion, there is also a Presque Isle Harbor Light in Marquette MI.

OK< then I really don't like this being the light's debut release. I think that the old light across the presque would have been a better choice...I didn't know that this one was haunted. Though I have heard people say that every lighthouse is haunted in its own way...

OK...so we have three Presque Isles in Michigan, a Presque Isle and a Presque Isle Breakwater in Pennsylvania, and I know of one in Ontario, with there being a high probability of one in Quebec. Brain overload...

The Eagle and Presque Isle I think are the best or the new releases. I think Eagle will be the first Anchor Bay piece I will add to my collection after seeing it at the last reunion

Looks like HL is doing a repeat of the NJ Lighthouse challenge idea- have all the lights available as a LLOM.

This year it seems it's the Maryland Lighthouse Challenge's turn.

I find one of those new LLOM verrry interesting--Sandy Point Shoal. It goes with the other MD lights, all of which are Challenge stops. Could it be that Sandy Point will join the challenge somehow this year? I don't know how they could do it, but I can't think of why they would release it with those other Challenge lights as a coincidence. Hmmm...

Maybe it's because of where it is. You would either have to be unaware or blind, or drive the long way to see Hooper Strait to miss it along the way on the Challenge. It may not count as a visit, but you are almost required to add it to your "seen" list as you do the challenge. laugh

I seem to recall that they decided against having Sandy Point as one of the "official" Lighthouses of the Maryland Challenge due to the fact that it's out near the bridge and the Park that it's in would not give any break on admission just to get a close view.

They do a drive through Christmas Light Extravaganza every year with the money going to Charity.

You can get a view of it from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge as you cross over.

I've never seen it. I think that's because I was too tired and my brother and I were too engrossed in seeing how many times we could listen to Paul Simon's song "You're the One" befor we got to the hotel. You want to know something really strange? I just realized I'm listening to that song right now. Creepy. eek

Some nice releases, although I'm not so sure about the Christmas piece. I'm not sure I can picture Bodie Island as being a "winter wonderland" I know it can snow in the Carolinas, but come on.

Interesting point, Mike. If you asked any of us to shout out the first State that comes to mind when the word "snow", or "winter", or "Christmas" was mentioned, South Carolina would not be in the top ten choices. As a matter of fact, nothing south of the Mason-Dixon line would come to mind.

It just goes to show that with a little Harbour Lights magic, most anything is possible. I'll buy it because I buy them all. Tall towers are good.

smile Bob smile

P.S. Maybe a little California magic will put snow on a palm tree some day...

Here's another interesting point. How soon some people forget.
http://www.lighthousekeepers.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=36;t=000109#000000

This was a fundraiser for this forum started in March of last year. Limited editions of Bruce Robert's photograph, "Bodie in the Snow" were sold. Did any of you buy one to support this forum?

Well, gee, gosh darn it, we actually do have real snow, real winters and beautiful Christmas's with white snow south of the Mason-Dixon line.

This Christmas edition will be in my collection as soon as I can get my hands on it...and it will have a prominent position in my display.

The truth is I want Key West as a christmas piece. You know white sand shinning in the sun, palm trees swaying in the warm December breeze, Santa on his jetski.... You get the idea.

As a joke a friend of mine, said he is plannig to submit a picture he took of Key west last December to the next Lighthouse Digest photo contest as a winter entry.

Ok I've noticed that no one mentioned the Lens ornaments. Since we have seen 2 of these, how long do you think it will be before we see the other two? One of which looks like the lens in Pt. Vincete (Bivalve with 2 Bullseyes on a side), and the other one which looks like a lens off a bouy.

Did Bodie move south for the winter? I thought the OBX was still an extension of NORTH Carolina? FWIW, I would bet that some of our members who live in western NC would tell you they see more than enough snow each year.

Judy, the print of Bruce's picture was sold as a fund raiser for Bodie, not for the Forums. That was the picture used on last year's Wacko Badge, and Paul printed off larger versions for an additional fund raiser.

That is correct Dave...as we all know.

It was a fundraiser done by this forum, and in the name of this forum, It was also highly promoted on this forum, and if "regulars" paid any attention at all, they would have realized the print " Bodie in the Snow ", by Bruce Roberts was a winter photograph taken with SNOW on the ground.

Again, The Outer Banks Lighthouse Society is very grateful for the support.
