The Rumor Mill can work very well and provide endless bits of information only if people "feed" the mill.

The next time you are at a signing, rep event, club meeting, etc., and Bill, Kim, Nancy, or a HL Rep is present, ask questions. You can get a lot of info in a casual conversation with the folks from Harbour Lights.

Kim is usually a little more tight-lipped. Bill lets a few things slip once in awhile. Nancy usually is a great person to talk to about future HL releases. Reps will sometimes share pre-release info with their dealers who in turn will pass that info on to their best customers.

So the next time you see any of the above people, ask questions and report back to the only channel for Connected Collectors, the Collector Forums!

I understand HL is looking for photos of the keepers house for Cape Charles, VA. It burned a few years ago. However, I do know some people who supplied said photos to Kim after last year's Maryland lighthouse challenge. Time will tell.

I saw Bill at a signing event a couple weeks ago. I asked him if there will be another reunion. He said yes, that one is currently being planned, not by Harbour Lights but by two prominent forum members with the cooperation of Harbour Lights. He said it would be next year and that it would be on Mackinac Island but not at the Grand Hotel. Apparently, the owners of the Grand Hotel also own another property on the island which is not as elegant as the Grand. He said the planning is quite well along and it would be announced before too long.

Obviously HL heard our ideas for a Mackinac Reunion! Yippee! That goes to show, Y&A does read these boards. Maybe I can get my parents to take me, though it would be hard to do unless it was in the summer...when do they usually do reunions? I'd like to maybe stay at the Grand, too. Perhaps there could be a group rate for those who prefer that hotel. We could make it a little "family vacation". The Grand looks like one of those historic hotels I go crazy over.

Let's hope that this is a true rumor! laugh

Greg - the whole island is full of those historic hotels and homes that you'll go crazy over. Of course, some just LOOK old but might have been built in the last decade or so.

Here\'s the local visitor\'s guide.

If you're allergic to lilacs or horses or road apples, you'll need to stock up on your meds before making the trip.

Since Mackinac Island pretty well shuts down the end of September, there won't be any way a reunion could be held as late as the others have been -- in October.

Most of the hotel jobs and restaurant jobs and fudge shop jobs, on the island are staffed by college kids who return to school before or around Labor Day.

Figure it out.

Look for an announcement in the next Legacy due in a few weeks.

Any more comments to add to this probably ought to be over in "The Next Reunion" Forum.

Well isn't that a special piece of info! Is Bill spilling the beans? Is there something in the works that will be announced soon?

Great piece of info to "feed" the rumor mill. Thank you for sharing it.

Anyone else hear anything similar they can back this rumor up with?

Kim confirmed the Mackinac rumor at the Kim signing at Mileagers in Racine, WI in June.

Inside information from our CIA has indicated that we will see a LE lightship lens in 2005.

If anyone gets an inkling of the month, we would appreciate a heads up. With other lighthouse trips planned in 2005 we sure want to hold a date for the reunion.

I'm avidly looking forward to the next Reunion. It should be a real blast. And I'll be there -- no matter where or when.

I also think we may be seeing the lens out of Point Vincete also at some point in the near future. Since this years lens ornaments are Boston, Hereford Inlet, a Lightship lens, and Pt. Vincente. I for one would love to see Pt Vincente's lens. She is one of the most beutiful lens I have ever had the plesure of seeing first hand.

Well the best rumor, now fact, was the info about the 2005 Reunion. After a four year wait, the HL Gang will be back together again.

Kudos to the crew that put it together. Although Harbour Lights will be supporting this adventure with the usual exclusive pieces, etc., it was the hard work of the Wackos that is making it a reality.

Under the category of "You can please some of the people, some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time", there will be some Wackos who will not be able to attend. Some say they can't afford it. Some say it's too far to travel. Some say that particular week is not good for them. Some won't be able to make the cut on the phone-in reservation list.

I'll make a prediction right now. The 2005 Harbour Lights Reunion will sell out. The amount of people that this reunion can handle is limited and a lot less than the total of people that could attend the last reunion.

Remember, "There's the quick, and the bitten."

Bob,

The quick may not get there either due to the way it's set up. I don't happen to belong to the right organizations for the easy admission.

I'll be dialing feverishly , more than likely since Esther has always wanted to go to Mackinac Island.

We'll probably do something like fly to Detroit visit my Nephew drive up the Eastern Shore of Lake Michigan around the Southern Shore of Lake Superior visit my other Nephew in Marquette and finish up at the Reunion and then fly back from up there.

I feel the folks not on the east coast have an advantage when it comes to the phone-in challenge. They seem to get through quicker. I'm basing my opinion on info posted after the last two phone-in challenges. People from the west coast were getting through in short periods of time while east coast people dialed all day with some of them unable to get through.

Do you feel lucky?

 Bob

I don't know Bob. For the Providence reunion it took me a little over 2 hours to get through. For Baltimore, I was through in 19 minutes and talking with Kim. It really depends on the luck of the dial.

Dennis, you belong to NELL, right? NELL is a Certified Harbour Lights Collectors Club. You should be getting notice via email today with forms, etc.
