John,

I don't believe that Mike was referring to the Little Lights already issued in years past. He, like myself and others, are wondering if any are planned for the future.

I hope that the news about the LLOM's will be good. I like them just as much as the LE's and have both in my collection.

John,

I haven't been active for a while but I'm back.
I bought the full set of original LLs (1-24) when they were first offered. My dealer did not even unpack the HL case/package & just shipped it to me. Not only did it have the set of LLs but also the original retail store display & info. I tried the next day to order another set but the dealer said that the LLs were being recalled by HL. It appears that the first run of lights had a bottom that was easily damaged. I was never able to get any information on how many of these original LLs made their way into collector's hands. Any ideas?

I have a few - purchased because there was no hope of my ever getting the original LE. The LLOM's are very well done and have certainly filled a need for those who could not invest in the regular lights and/or had space problems.

I started collecting the LLOM about 1 1/2 years ago. Before that, my daughter was collecting the LE's and any time I won one, which was fairly often,(lucky guy I guess) I'd give them to her for her collection. Now I keep them for my collection and add them to the LL's. I won the gold 3 Sister's at the LHD last year and when I got home Eileen said "Oh Dad I'll take that if you want." "Yea, sure you will" I told her as we both laughed. Funny thing though, she won't return the LE's I "lent" her. :)I forgot to add that my grand daughter Kaitlyn is also collecting the LL's and when we did the N Jersey challange a couple of years ago I bought her the set for the challange. She was delighted. cool

I won a Little Light on a lighthouse cruise. I was so excited. Then came my birthday and my one and only became 5 then 10. You get the picture. Everyone finally found something they can buy me that I love. I only have about 65. laugh I think they are very well done. You know maybe they can make a special edition once a year. wink

Actually there are 172 different Little Lights!

The only numbers that HL hasn't used from LL1 Cape Hatteras to LL274 Point Lookout are LL128, LL249 and LL258..

I have them all on display now in their own cabinet, which I will take picture of once we get done with our cleaning of our cabinets.. I used to display them next to their big brothers but since I am changing how they are displayed to HL number order I put all of the LL's together..

And all this time I thought that I was missing three of the little beauties.

I have a couple that I bought that were most likely from the dealer's origninal shipment. Never heard anything about their being recalled??? I don't think this dealer ever got more than the original 24.

They recalled from stores only, Mombo.. They changed the base to the way they are now.. The one's that were already sold weren't recalled. When I get a moment I will try and remember to post some images showing the difference..

Dave H emailed me a problem he had with my math on the total of LL's produced..

Dave stated that there should be a total of 171 not 172. I said he was correct except for the fact that they produced...

LL123 Point Arena ??
LL123 Point Arena CA

Can you name the variation?

I checked my bases and they all look the same?

I also discovered that the small curio that houses my ornies, thumbnails and the LLOM needs attention, quite dusty and even a cobweb!

It seems I only have 6 LL's plus one duplicate and I do have that Pt. Arena variation thanks to a kindly gentleman from CA smile but I'll let someone else answer/guess...

Mombo,

I think the first LL's issued had brown felt dots on the bottom and the bottom printing pealed off with price stickers. When this problem was discovered a new type of printing was used that did not peal with price stickers and the felt dots were changed to a blue color. Again, I think this is correct.

Anyone else have info on this?

I can't confirm the reason for the change, but my early ones do have brown dots and the later ones have dark blue dots.

Yep, I've got brown dots and blue dots. Never noticed that before. I sure hope they continue to make LLOM, they are all I have room for anymore. frown

Barnegat, Sandy Hook, Hatteras, and Hilton Head are all brown. St. Simons, Stonington, and Watch Hill are blue.

Makes sense...the browns are the earlier ones, except maybe for the HH. The Watch Hill was a freebie from LHHC&Y in 04 when Kim was there, and I bought the Stonington in the gift shop of that light the same time (and got it signed by Kim in the light).

Never knew there was a difference until now...

Portland Head, Nauset Beach, Boston Harbor, Tybee, New London Ledge, Southeast Block Island, Cape Neddick, Heceta Head and Key West are Brown.

Holland, Barnegat, St. Augustine, Port Arena, Montauk Point and Jupiter are blue.

Interesting. My St. Simon's, St. Augustine, and Point Arena have brown dots, guys. With brown dots, I also have Sandy Hook, Tybee, Southeast Block, Pensacola, Old MacKinac and Bolivar.

The ones with blue dots are Cape Canaveral, Matagorda, Craighill Lower Range, Point Lookout, Cape Florida and Jupiter.

To clarify, I think The only LL's with the brown felt dots are LL item #'s 1 through 24. These are from the original first "batch or "group" issued and the printing on the bottom can be damaged by price stickers etc. Most of these were issued to dealers with the LL display stand as a boxed intro set for dealer display and individual sale. In addition the LL folded catalog in these boxes only pictures the first 24 and is a small 1 inch or less square fold. If you have any of these LL item #'s 1 through 24 with blue felt dots they are from the second release with the improved printing on the bottom. #'s 25 and above all have Blue felt dots on the bottom with the improved printing process. Also the improved printing used on pieces with the blue felt dots is ever so slightly raised as compared to the first issue printing being very flat on the surface.

Lonnie,

You are right on with the LL100 set facts. I can add a little more here. I received two sets from my HL dealer. The sets did come as LL001 (with all 24 lights) in cartons marked with same & also showing carton # xxxx of 2,000. The LL display came in a separate box. As I remember, HL at the time told me that they asked their dealers (through the reps) to return the original cases. The mystery to this point is: How many made it out to the collectors? I think that most of the 2,000 sets were shipped (to the dealers) as one of my cartons is # 1,887 of 2,000. I'll make some pics of the cartons soon.

Richard

In talking with Harry last week, he indicates that up to 7 new Little Lights will be introduced in the June batch. No word on which ones.

By my count to date there have been 171 Little Lights with product numbers from 101-274. The numbers not used are 128, 249 and 258.

If anyone has any differing numbers or products that go with those 3 missing numbers, please post.

Thanks,

John
