A few chats back, when Bill Younger was on, he mentioned that HL's was approached by the QVC channel. At that time no decision had been made and he was thinking about it. Does anyone have any news on a decision yet?

I cannot imagine Harbour Lights being sold on QVC, at least not the present line of limited editions. MJ watches QVC on a daily basis and I know that they sell hundreds (if not thousands) of a product at a single showing. Can you imagine missing out on a limited edition HL because you weren't tuned in?

Ron, Bill said they would only sell open editions if they went on QVC. The Little Lights might go very well to the general public.

It was my understanding from someone that there were opportunities to appear on QVC without actually selling on the air. More of a familiarization with the line?

I think HL's agreements with dealers would prohibit them from selling directly to the public.

There are probably special pieces that they could make for QVC that would not interfere with their contracts with stores. I am sure that HL's must have a contract that is very similiar to Lladro,Hummel, and Precious Moments' contracts yet they are able to have shows. They might sell their Mark Sherman prints already framed or other HL's items.

I doubt very seriously that HL would put the LE on QVC. I agree they may put something on that would not effect the dealers much. Hopefully it would bring more attention for them..

I can say I'm a big watcher of qvc- I sure hope they don't go there! For one thing, it will introduce more and more people to HL- and yes that's great for HL but it may start making the LE's harder to get ahold of. I used to collect Boyds bears- when they went on qvc I stopped collecting. Yes- they did what they called exclusives to qvc and they sold out before they even aired by collectors. Values went sky high and later boyds came out with the same item with a slight color change and everyone could get it, it really brought down the price of the exclusive-(if you were lucky enough to get it) I personally think that (from years of watching qvc) they would require HL to do the exclusives or special pieces to draw in the viewers and buyers, otherwise people would just buy it at their local store and save on shipping costs! I mean really- would you watch if it was only the regular pieces you have already seen? just my 2cents!

If they do go on QVC I hope all they offer is the LLOM, or maybe the left over Bill dolls. But please not the LE's!

I think I read on one of the latest Chat Logs that Bill Younger said he would not put any LE lighthouses on QVC.

Bill has very emphatically said he will NOT sell LE's on QVC. If he can peddle LLOM or OE models on QVC, infomercials or any other way, more power to HL. You know that the opportunity for BY to appear on QVC would open a lot of peoples eyes to the need for lighthouse preservation. I venture a guess that BY would spend more time promoting lighthouse preservation than selling product.
