Have their been any rumors or leaks floating around on what lights will be part of the Collectors Society for 2003...? I know, I should just be happy with the 2003 announcements (which I am, by the way), but I was just curious if there's any word on what to expect as the membership pieces...

(I know that someone else mentioned this somewhere in the other topics, but I don't recall if anything was said.)

Owl's Head and Cedar Island must be coming in April or at least June? I waiting for my call from HL to attend Rosemount to be at the introductionCedar Island?
(Wow! I just woke up from daydreaming at my keyboard, did anything happen while I nodded off?)

Bob, I'm with you on Owl's Head. Wouldn't that be a great Society Exclusive. If I wasn't a member, I'd join just to get that one. It's great to dream, isn't it?

For "Point Bonita" I would join for life. I guess the rumor about it being "Taken care of" I heard earlier this year was just that, a rumor. Oh well, as my mother used to say, onward and upward smile

All the lights are being "taken care of" - in other words, they are on the list to be produced at some point. Some just get done sooner than others. For Point Bonita to be done right, they will have to include the bridge, and that may take some doing. Also make for a larger (longer or bigger footprint) piece than normal. An interesting combo would be Point Cabrillo as the freebie and Point Bonita as the redemption piece.

Here's a combo of two lights that you hear nothing about (or very little), and deserve some credit with the recent restoration of the old light in Port Washington, Wisconsin........

Port Washington Breakwater light -Gift
Port Washington Old Lighthouse (on the hill) -Society Redemption Piece

OK, HL.... put these lights on you list and in the works along with a few more lights from Wisconsin that deserve recoginition.

Point Bonita would be an excellent addition to Harbour Lights. However, having grown up just a few miles from Lake Michigan, I tend to have a bias towards lights from the Great Lakes.

Actually, I think Point Sur would be far better than Point Bonita. The stone block light with the keepers house up the cliff. It doesn't get any better than that. Then Point Bonita could be the freebe smile . What you think laugh

Where is Owl's head anyway? confused

I would like to see Stony Point on the Hudson River for a society piece. Would make a great club renewal piece.

Sorry, Chuck, no way could they do justice to Point Bonita and make it the freebie. Only thing that would come of that is a lot of disappointed collectors because I doubt it would include the bridge - and that is a large part of what makes this light so special.

Owls Head (the actual lighthouse) is located in Maine, outside Rockland as I recall.

Southeast side of the entrance to Rockland Harbor, always it seems, in "the FOG".

Maine, where's Maine? I'll bet that is somewhere north of Texas and East of California. laugh Someone told me there were other state's that way. But I thought they had taken to many recreational drugs. laugh We have another Texas light and Bill didn't say a thing when he was here! What a guy! laugh laugh laugh laugh

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night! laugh

East brother, California is a strong contender for Society piece.

The "gift" will, as usual, be a little-known light, perhaps also from California. I hope they make a more whimsical choice this year, a la the 1996 event piece, Sunken Rock, NY. We've had enough industrial lights...let's have a cute one this year. There are many to choose from.

A Society gift of haunted Old Presque Isle with a redemption piece of New Presque Isle would be an interesting combo.

Any more rumors about the 2003 Society pieces. Someone, somewhere must have a little tidbit of information.

How about a Sand Island (AL) lighthouse while it still looks like Morris Island (190)... and before it looks like Round Island (242) 'Now'??

That would double the number of AL lighthouses...

Actually Sand Island AL would be a good idea. Then They could give out Mobile Point as as the society gift and Alabama could be stamped as done! wink

Either Sand Island or Mobile Bay would be nice, however, I'm hoping that there's an outside chance that it'll be "Old Presque Isle, Mi"

(I know it won't happen but I enjoy dreaming...lol) laugh

All speculation aside, does anyone have an approximate date as to when we might actually learn what the society pieces might be this year?

I wont spill the beans before the chat tonight but Harbour Lights has out done itself this time. Both the gift and the exclusive are fantastic. And the special release piece will definately be in my collection too.

They sure made up for the early releases. cool

Dale,

You let at least a few beans out- unless that West coast reference was about something else.

I can think of any number of West Coast Lights that would make me and a good number of people here very happy.

Maybe I'll get my Legacy today also. (Well, the mail came and no Legacy was there.)

Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

I'm surprised no one had posted exactly what is the Society Piece this year.

If you didn't attend the chat last night, take a few moments and read the chat log. Then you will really know what's going on.
