Has HLs dropped the Little Lights of Mine (LLOM) line or is it on the "back burning" for now ?

We haven't heard a peep as to if any new LLOM editions are being released in 2005.

Anybody have any insight?

I wouldn't think they'd drop the line. LLOM seem to be pretty good sellers. They may have been what saved HL, and I think they're the "crutch" they're leaning on right now.

However, the second half releases are only a few months away, so perhaps they will be coming out then. It seems like that would be most logical, as then it will get "noticed" more than an independent release of a smaller line.

Good observation, Chris! I hadn't noticed that no new LLOM's were released for 2005. One would think there would have been some new releases by now.

I guess that's the difference between LE's and giftware. Collector's shout when the new LE's haven't arrived, yet this is the first I've heard someone inquiring about LLOM.

I don't know what the markup is on LLOM but you would think that Harbour Lights would probably have to sell about 4 or 5 LLOM to make the same profit as one LE.

I wouldn't think Harbour Lights would drop that line. They are very affordable, and very well done. I'm sure there is a great market for them out there.

What Lighthouses would you like to see added to the Little Lights line? The company has almost 175 different lighthouses available now.

Click here for a list of all Then post which ones you'd like to see made.

You're right, JC! They have 175 popular lights out there now so that must pretty much cover the more popular lights around the country.

I guess future additions to that 175 may come from multiple requests from area dealers and just maybe lights mentioned here at the CF.

Post the ones you are interested in and maybe they may become a reality.

That was exactly the word I heard from HQ. Awaiting input for regional lights from dealers and collectors.

Are their Little Lights for all the NJ Challenge Lights? All the Maryland Challenge Lights? Door County Walk Lights? And the Long Island Challenge Lighthouses?

John,

I know that there is a complete set of the Maryland Challenge Lighthouses- I bought one last year.

I'm am fairly sure that over the space of two years that all of the NJ Lighthouse challenge Lighthouses were put out.

I'd have to check the list of LLOM to be sure of the Long Island Lighthouse challenge lights or Door county Walk exist but I suspect that most if not all are available since there are 175 LLOM.

Thought they'd never ask! Nantucket, BLock Island and Martha's Vineyard are great vacation spots here in the northeast. I would think that Sankaty, Great POint on Nantucket and BLock Island North on BLock Island would be great additions. And let's not forget East Chop, West Chop on Martha's Vineyard. Let's see what else our forum members can come up with.

Little Lights were good sellers at my dealer. Unfortunaly, nothing else was and he's closing the doors as of Mothers Day. Just can't make it in the collectible's industry anymore it seems.

Without checking which have already been made, all the Cape and Islands lights would seem to be a good 'set' to complete -- at least the Cape.

When do you think those Massachusetts people will get together to hold a "Cape Cod Lighthouse Challenge"?

Something to really consider John. I would love to see that done. I'll maybe bring it up to some of the memebers at our meeting on Nantucket this weekend.

Bert,

I'd go for it also. I'm going to try for the Triple Header this year- LI, NJ & MD.

I'll be at the NELL Meeting this weekend on Nantucket also- see you there.

There is already an event that's something like the challenge on Cape Cod- Headlights for Cape Cod. It's possible that NELL or ALF and the other Cape cod Lighthouse organizations could get them to consider going together and renaming it something like the Headlights For Cape Cod Lighthouse Challenge. :-)

I heard that HFL is not going to occur again, as run by the Firebird club. However, I think it is perfectly feasible for there to be a Cape Cod Challenge. It is an optimum location, with many land-accessible lights. I think it would be great.

I bet that if there is a second LI Challenge, HL will complete the LLOM collection then. They obviously want to make sure the idea will work before they put the investment into the extra lights. They did the MD Challenge the second year, so I'm betting that that's what they'd do with LI.

As for what I'd want to see....LAKE ONTARIO LIGHTS! Last year, when we did the Seaway Trail, I wanted to get an LLOM as a memento of the trip. I went to HL.com and...nada. I can't believe that there is nothing for the entire area. So now that's my LLOM quest. smile

Well they have less than 1/2 of Florida Lighthouses,......so I would like to start with a collection of the six reef lights.
Another George Meade Lighthouse (yes of Civil War fame) is Seahorse key. Loggerhead, Garden Key (Fort Jefferson), Hillsboro, Anclote, San Blas, Crooked River and St. Johns (the one by the Ocean). And I almost forgot St. Joe, Egmont Key, Boca Grande and Boca Grand Rear Range.

International I would like the French Lighthouse "Cordouan" aka the King of Lighthouses, although this would be a better LE small would be better than none at all. This lighthouse is 302 steps to the top. It is surrounded by Soldiers Barracks, has a Chapel at the bottom. Higher up is a bedroom for the King of France is case he wanted to spend the night (he never did) and the overall beauty of this lighthouse is outstanding. It is on my wish list of lighthouses to visit.

I always thought LI Lighthouses would make a great spyglass set so why not Little Lights! We've got a good start with Montauk, Fire Island, Horton Pt, Race Rock, and Orient Pt (still waiting for the LE) but the LE's for Coney Island, Long Beach Bar, Cold Spring Harbor, Execution Rock, Stepping Stones and Cedar Island have been done so are the LLs far behind?
Maryland had a set available for their Challenge last year, and NJ had many available too. So why not Long Island?
Challenge participants who don't have any Harbour Lights are Huntington Harbor, Eaton's Neck, Plum Island and Orient Point.
Maybe by next year?
Bob
