I see in the Lighthouse Depot catalog that Sandy Pt. has a retired flag next to it...is this true? I have read/seen nothing on HL's website or anywhere else that mentions Sandy Pt. being retired...where? When? Why? Can anyone help?

Rock, the current "Lighthouse Legacy", Vol.6, No.3, lists the following pieces retired in the Retirement Update section:

#167 Sandy Point, MD
#188 Beavertail, RI
#191 Grand Traverse, MI
#195 Jeffrey's Hook, NY

After a little research:

#188 & #195 retired 6/18/99
#191 retired 7/6/99

I couldn't find the actual date, but the logical guess would be that Sandy Point retired around 7/99

to add retirement dates...

The actual, official date of the retirement of the HL167 Sandy Point Shoals Lighthouse was 6/21/99. The date that HL167 Sandy Point Shoals was first available was 7/96. This is information straight from Harbour Lights, less than 10 minutes ago, so it is not only correct but fresh also.
