There were lots of lighthouse visits in the days of and around the 3rd Collector's Reunion. Here's one I took of the lens at Drum Point light. At this time in our countries history, the first thing I saw in the camera's viewfinder was the flag, not the lens. I hope others of you enjoy the picture too.

Thanks for the note. No, we didn't get to lights in other states this trip. I started this topic thinking that folks who did see the NJ and VA lights while on the Reunion bus trips could add their pictures to the thread. If anyone has shoots to share, don't be shy, post them here!

The red, white and blue bouy marks the approximate spot the Francis Scott Key occupied while observing the British attack on Fort McHenry and being inspired to write The Star Spangled Banner.

John, thanks for the pictures from someone who *did* attend the reunion. All I have is a point and shoot camera with no telephoto lens, so most of my pictures (at least from the boat tour)have me scratching my head wondering why I took them, since I cannot find anything identifiable as a lighthouse in them.

Tinicum Rear Range in Paulsboro NJ was a late addition to the New Jersey tour -- and I'm glad we stopped there. The light is in fantastic condition and really 'shined' for us.

They met us there at about 7:30 AM and opened up for climbing as well.

This is an unusual light - it serves as the rear range to two different front range lights and sits right across the Delaware River from the Philadelphia Airport.

How did your Delaware trip go? Did you get to the landfill light and Liston Front?

Larry, we did see the landfill light, but it was from across the river from a distance. We also saw it from the highway as we were heading south. I did go get a few pictures of Liston front from the dirt road by the driveway. We also saw Horseshoe Front and rear from the highway north of the airport.

Horseshoe and landfill and Marcus Hook and anything else...directions, I need directions. I feel a day trip coming on.

Seeing the fine photo of Turtle Rock lighthouse on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia brings back fond memories. In 1988 I was fortunate enough to be able to have rowed there in the Thomas Eakins Head of the Schuylkill race. It is the largest one day regatta held anywhere in the world featuring over 5000 rowers. It was truly a beautiful sight when our boat went out to practice the day before the race. As it's held in the fall when days are shorter the lights that outline each boathouse were on as we returned to the launching area with the skyline of downtown Philadelphia illuminated as well.

For a bunch of over-the-hill rowers to have competed in such a prestigous event along with former and future Olympians was the opportunity of a life time. And we actually finished 3rd in our age group (out of 3 entries!)

Excuse my inflated head, but I'm so pleased with the photos from the new Nikon 995, I'd love to find the time to go back to the Chesapeake and shoot all the ones I missed!!

Would you believe I kept putting off photographing Seven Foot Knoll so long I never got a decent photo of it??

On our drive home from the reunion we visited several lighthouses, including those of the Outer Banks, Tybee, St. Augustine and Ponce de Leon.
I enjoyed seeing the pictures posted here.

John, in researching the lights in Craighill Channel I found an error in your post of 10/13/01 naming the lights on the Reunion Excursions. If you check on www.cheslights.org/heritage/craighill.htm you will find that Craighill Upper Rear Range is completely white, while Craighill Lower Rear Range is faded-red and white. I checked several other web pages (http://home.neo.rr.com/rodsgallery/Lighthouses/Maryland/MarylandIndex.html) for one and they all show the Lower Rear Range as faded-red and white. Just thought you would want to know.
