In an earlier thread, John asked if I would be willing to make up special Reunion version Connected Collector name badges for those who were going to the Reunion. I said yes, if there was an interest. John and I feel there is enough interest that I will make up badges for those who want them. This will also be a small fundraiser for lighthouse preservation.

Here is the plan:

• Badges can be made for the Connected Collector and their family members actually attending the Reunion.
• These badges will be similar to ones I have made for folks at Rosemont the past couple years - approx 2" x 3 1/2", laminated and with a clip to attach to whatever.
• We will ask $5 for each badge, prepaid.
• Badges will be delivered at the Reunion - no use spending money mailing them (besides someone will forget theirs at home). More money to give to lighthouse preservation this way.
• After expenses, all funds will be given to a lighthouse preservation project. Still working out which one, but I will post this information as soon as determined.
• Please use This Form to order your badge. It has my address on it. (Thanks, John for constructing the form).

I would ask that you order these early if you want one. I will be gone on business from Sept 21st to the 27th, and will be leaving for Baltimore on the 29th (gotta get in some extra lighthousing with Forum Friends!). I want to be sure I get everyone's done, hopefully with correct spelling and everything! Double check your typing on the form, as that is what I will be using for my data.

The lighthouse preservation project to be supported with revenue from this project will be the Saint George Reef Light. Since this light is the recipient of the funds raised by the wacko pin for this year, it seemed logical to combine these funds with them.

As of today, we have 77 badges ordered. Still plenty of time to get ordered. We are drawing many of our newer connected collector family into this, which is great. I would love to see us reach around 120 - 125 badges ordered, so we can give at least an additional $500 to St. George Reef Light.

The badges have grown - they will be 3" x 5", to be easier for all to see. Hopefully they will also generate some interest among those who are not yet connected collectors and we will see even more new folks join us here in the land of wacko's.

As of this moment, there are 100 reunion special connected collector badges ordered. This will generate about a $400 donation to the St. George Reef light on behalf of reunion attendees. However, I would love to see this become at least a $500 donation. To do this I need to get orders for at least 20 more badges. Have you ordered yours????

The original deadline was this weekend. Thanks to the way John set up the order form and people ordering early, I am caught up, with all the badges ordered so far complete and ready to go. So, I will extend the deadline to the 25th to give you time to get your badge ordered. Its only $5 a badge. The badge is very nice looking thanks again to help from John. He took my basic layout ideas and dressed it up.

If you have ordered one and sent your check, Thanks! If you have not sent your check yet, please do so in order that a final donation check can be completed and brought to the reunion.

While we're thanking Dave for the terrific job he did producing those Connected Collector badges, we also might want to thank him for his generosity. In one of his earliest posts, he mentioned that everything over his expenses would be contributed to a lighthouse restoration project. I heard at the Reunion that Dave contributed EVERYTHING taken in for the badges which means that he absorbed the cost of production. And I also heard that was not a trivial amount of money.
Well done, Dave!! You're a good & generous man!

The "Connected Collector" badges were great! Without them I certainly would never have been able to locate as many people as I did. Out of the many of us present there were very few people I didn't find. Hope to catch up with those I managed to miss at another event before long! Thanks Dave, you done good, real good!

Thank you all for the kind words. The badges did turn out very nice - thanks to Rod Watson for use of the picture and to John Chidester for taking my rough idea and putting a nicer look to it. There were a number of folks who noticed them and were ready to buy one if available. Hopefully next time around they will be connected collectors and will have their own badges! The badges certainly did help to easily identify our group of connected collectors. I do hope they opened up some to awareness of these great forums.

I do need to correct one comment though. I have made badges for people going to the collector shows the past couple years as freebies, but told John that this time I was going to cover my costs (knowing that this group would come through and order a bunch.) 141 badges were sold ($705) and after expenses ($105) we raised $600. Several folks gave some extra, so the amount I will be sending on to the St. George Reef folks will be $620. A big thank you to all who purchased the badges and contributed to this additional donation from a bunch of Wackos!

With an edition size of only 143 (there are 2 badges I will post a story on once they have been delivered in person) these are one of the more limited collectibles to come from the Reunion!

Bob, bring up the subject of an annual badge at the start of the year and we'll see what we can do.
