OK, I have yet to make it to a reunion. Might not till I retire from my job. But you might consider San Francisco for a site as well. Pt. Reyes Light for a Society piece, East Brother for and Event Piece, and lots of others available. Lots of eating and lodging places. Transportation hub.

That said, would love to go home to Michigan as well (for a visit).

I know I've be absent for a while, but let me add my voice to the fray. I'll just be happy to attend another reunion even if we only see one or two lighthouses, as we did at the first reunion.

My vote goes to the Great Lakes region. Although the idea of going to BALTIMORE, FLORIDA, DELAWARE, SAN FRANCISCO, SEATTLE or anyplace that there are lighthouses would be fine with me. My bags will be packed and ready to go, whenever Harbour Lights gives us the info.

No, Lonnie I didn't say one person! That Y2K thing must have hit your computer, since you can't see the zeros.

By the way, I have heard no reply to the fact that there has been one Reunion in the East and one in the West and it is the Midwest's turn to have the Reunion. There are a lot of great places in this country that could host the reunion. That's not the point, the point is being fair to all the collectors across the country. I would love to see it happen in San Francisco, like Rich suggests, but the Easterners and Midwesterners made the trek to San Diego and then the Westerners and Midwesterners made the trek to Providence. It is time for the Midwesterners not to have to trek so far to go to the next reunion. Harbour Lights did a survey of Harbour Lights collectors at the last reunion as to where they wanted to hold the next reunion. The response was overwhelming for the Great Lakes area and mainly Michigan.

And when is it time for us Midcontinenters not to have to trek so far? We *do* have a lighthouse in Jackson, TN, you know.

Seriously, I agree with Paul. Michigan, with all it's lights, is the logical choice.

I have to agree with Sean. No matter where the reunion is held, I know that I will have to fly to attend. I would hope that the reunion would be accessible from a large airport. I know from experience that any time you have to fly in to a smaller commuter airport that the costs go up. I thought it was especially nice in San Diego to have the option of airport pick-up to the hotel. Whatever place it ends up being held, it will be nice to have something new to talk about and look forward to being one of the hopeful attendees!

Speaking for some of the birds it is a whole lot cheaper for collectors in the Midwest to drive in one day, than to drive, fly or fly and drive to the East or West Coast. Sean there is a big group of Harbour Lights collectors within one day's drive of Traverse.

If you were more than a day away then more than likely most of you flew to the reunion.

I seriously doubt that most flew, at least to Providence. The San Diego reunion probably did have a lot of people flying in, but I talked to quite a few people that just made it a 2 week vacation and drove to and from the first reunion.

I am going to be at the next reunion whether it is held down the street from where I live or Australia. I feel very strongly that this mumbo jumbo, as you call, is important to the guy in the Midwest who has not been able to attend either of the first reunions due to time or money restraints.

I believe that Harbour Lights responds to its collectors and the vast majority wanted the next reunion in Midwest. Call that owing if you want, I prefer to call it responding to the question that Harbour Lights asked their collectors. I also believe that Harbour Lights is trying it's best to accomplish that goal of holding the next reunion in the Midwest.

Just to stir the pot, I could mention that we do have lighthouses here in Texas! But seriously, it appears that our collectors base is rather small, so I'm not really rallying for Houston as a reunion location. As lorrie mentioned, I think a major airport is important, along with lodging. I have no idea where Traverse City is, is it near Detroit? Someone help me here!

Jeff,
Traverse is about 3/4 of the way up the west coast of Michigan (Lake Michigan side). Don't look at the coast, look inland 20 or so miles, at the southern end of Grand Traverse Bay. Bunches of lighthouses within easy driving range.

Traverse City is near your first pinky joint, between the pinky and the ring finger.

I have said before that traverse city may not be able to facilitate the 1000 + people who would attend this reunion. Apparently I must be wrong. since people who live there, or close, are still trying to sell the location. If the reunion could be facilitated there, it is THE PLACE TO GO, and I live in California.Per Kim, 2001 will be the year.

Yes, finally. I really don't care where it is as long as I can go.
