I have been trying to nail down a hotel near the convention that is less expensive for the time during the bus trips. But I don't know what is close. Can I assume that hotels in or near "Inner Harbor" would be what I want to look for?

thanks, I saw that but earlier someone posted (I think John) about a Quality under $80. But I can't find that post. If possible, I would like to find clean room under $100.00 cuz we won't be there much anyway.

Hi Gail ....

Let Sue & I know if you find the Quality Inn ... we'd love to split the room costs ... after al, we will only be using it to sleep in for about 4 - 5 hours each night anyway!

Well I have found a hotel, not as cheap as I wanted but better than Marriott. I am going to call to see if we can get a group rate & how many rooms we would have to book to get it? It is approx 13 miles from Marriott & my van is full. Anyone else out there with transportation who would be interested in a room for under $100.00?? Or maybe even people who want to get together a rent a car?

My brain is working at half throttle tonight. What are we paying for the rooms at the Marriott? I know I'm willing to pay more for a room so I don't have to travel away from the reunion to sleep at night.

no Bob, this is hotels during bus tours. Before & after reunion.
Sorry Bob, I should have been a little clearer on this, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Bob, the rooms at the Marriot during the reunion proper are $197. That's why these folks are looking elsewhere for the additional night/nights.

I have found 3, that sound promising. If a lot of people are going for alternitives, Maybe if we sign up as a group it might get cheaper still??
1.Hampton Inn, 6617 Ritchie Hwy, Glen Burnie (this is about 12 miles from Marriott)AAA & AARP rate $94.00
2.Holiday Inn, I695 exit 3, Glen Burnie(about 12 miles away) $99.00
3.Best Western, 5625 O'Donnell, Baltimore (about 3 miles from Marriott)AAA & AARP $98.10 (this also has shuttle but I doubt it will be running at 6am)
That is what I have found so far. hope it helps!?

This is going on AAA rateing. I don't know anything about the area or hotels. Suzanne sent me AAA info on hotels in area. I was already looking at HAmpton & Best Western & her info from AAA reinforced my guessing. I think we are staying at Best Western.

Here's the scoop. Spoke with a gentleman who lives in Baltimore. He was not in favor of the Best Western. He said it is accross from 2 cemetaries & did not feel it was real safe.
His recommendation was Quality Inn at Stadiums. He said this is a new hotel & very nice yet not too expensive. I called they have rooms for $105.00. AARP over 50 =$94.50 AARp over 60 =$84.00 AAA = $94.50. This for 2 double beds. Hope this helps.

Gail,
You better hope Digger doesn't take this too personally!

I have been following Gail's quest for lower priced motels in the Baltimore area and after reading the posts for Feb. 2001 I have this comment to make. As one who lived in Glen Burnie for 41 years please heed this observation. The location of the two motels on Ritchie HWY is on what is probably the busiest HWY in the Baltimore area. If you do use these motels allow extra time to get to the Baltimore harbor area or you may miss the bus. The twelve mile drive in the morning will be during rush hour and I would recommend that drivers should allow about 45 minutes for the drive.

Gail, Thanks for all the hard work in locating different places. Sounds like the Quality Inn might be the best.
