Getting time to find affordable plane tickets for the reunion Information needed on what websites are available for flight times and prices. Do you call the airline? Travel agent? Book your flight on the web? Ideas wanted! Thanks

Try this one - they check all the travel sites on the web and present the flights in order of price:

www.sidestep.com

You'll need to download an add-on for your browser to use it.

I just checked a hypothetical round trip from Oct 1 to 11 from Phoenix to Washington DC and it found 45 flights from 15 sites that ranged from $167 to $471 round trip.

Be sure to check flights into all 3 area airports - Baltimore, Reagan National, and Dulles. You may find a bargain at other than Baltimore that could be worth a bit of extra driving.

Bright Eyes,

Another one is WWW.orbitz.com

Northwest has a deal right now on a companion half price.

FWIW, you will generally find that BWI is the cheapest DC area airport to fly into. Often, there is a $50 or more difference between BWI and DCA (reagan). Don't forget to factor in the cost of getting to downtown Baltimore from DCA or Dulles, which is way out there.

Last month I flew from Indy to BWI on USAir for $155 RT.

JChidester and Dave H. are correct...it does pay to shop around when flying into the DC area. About a month ago, I was flying from Atlanta into that area and, by flying into Dulles or BWI (instead of Reagan-National), I was able to cut my airfare IN HALF (it was over $400 RT into Reagan-National, a little over $200 RT into the other 2...).

Also, something to keep in mind (similar to the other point from Dave H.), is that it can be VERY confusing (and expensive) to get from Reagan-National or Dulles to Downtown Baltimore. If you can swing it, I highly recommend BWI (even if it's slightly more expense than Dulles...it's WORTH it).

I won't be in Baltimore , so I'm hoping to hear about it (incl. pictures) from all of you fine people... GOOD LUCK!!!

Hey Mare, not sure if they're still having their "internet specials" or not, but 2 of us are flying from Bay Area to Baltimore for $430 TOTAL (not a direct flight either way but still a great buy!) on Southwest (www.southwest.com).

I have used lowestfare.com a couple times and been pleased with the fares. I wouldn't go into an airport that would necessitate a long cab ride or a rental car/parking fees at the hotel as that would probably take a large bite out of possible savings on the airfare.

Am probably going to take that shuttle from the airport to the hotel. Does anyone have any further information on that?

If Southwest comes near you, they are having a promotion with some low fares: http://www.southwest.com/jp/hotfares2.shtml?src=0717

We used http://www.travelocity.com and got a r/t from Dallas to BWI for 258. I also checked all 3 airports, and found out Baltimore was indeed the cheapest.

Expedia.com priced out at $105 RT from South Bend to Baltimore. Haven't decided on flying or driving. Flying is quicker but a real hassle stowing/toting all the souvenirs, goodies and paintings. A 10hr. drive from here so probably it would be the most practical method of travel. We just got a new van, have plently of room and would sure appreciate some extra company/driver if anyone is interested or brave enough!

I found that if I price shopped each airline directly online that I could compare the best prices. Fares seem to vary from city to city even when you're looking at the same general area. I priced all airlines flying from Salt Lake City to BWI and found Delta to be the best price ($238 RT). Southwest has had big ad promos for $99 each way but the available schedule in that price range didn't work for the times I was trying to travel.

Sorry I left this out - we booked directly
with United on their website and got a
better deal than calling them. After picking
our desired flight times, the site came back
with a cheaper alternative that just required
a longer layover, but still on the same day.

In May I booked mine and Terry's flight...we are on a direct flight from PHX to Bal on America's Worst for $459...at the time I wasn't sure it would be a good deal but now I'm thinking it's not so bad...that's if the flight is still going...

Mike and I booked a direct flight from Tampa to BWI for $218 total for both of us. We used www.Orbitz.com The airline is US Air. Where is everyone staying before and after the reunion? Any hotel information would be greatly appreciated. We can't wait to meet all of you!

Saw your post on the attendees and a great big CONGRATULATIONS on the marriage proposal.

Will you be driving to Tampa from Sunrise?
That is a good deal for two...Monday night I will be in the Norfolk area....Tuesday night at the reunion spot in Baltimore....
Derith

Hi Derith,
Thank you for wishing us well on our engagement! Yes, we are driving from Sunrise to Tampa. Mike's parents live in Clearwater so we will be spending a couple of days there before and after our trip. They are dog sitting for us too. Hope to say hello in person at the reunion to you.

I too used Orbitz.com and am paying $129.00 for a flight on USAir. Orbitz was one of the few that provided lots of choices of travel on the most airlines!

Take a look at Orbitz.com They provide lots of choices at very reasonable prices. We found RT tickets for both of us to BWI from Jacksonville for under $300. That's hard to beat.
