At the Grosse Pointe get-together it was let known that HL's early choice for the next reunion is the Great Lakes area. As we have speculated they are looking for an area with enough suitable accomodations.

I was most delighted to learn that a town in Door County Wisconsin is under consideration, a town possessing more than one lighthouse, one of which HL has already modeled. Nearby Green Bay has plenty of hotel space along with an airport capable of landing jets loaded with football players.

Door County would make an wonderful location for the next reunion. There are more lighthouses in this peninsular area than you can count on two hands. The beautiful (and dangerous) Green Bay and Lake Michigan coast lines are minutes from anywhere. Townlets of artisans and craft shoppes dot the area while abundant orchards of cherry trees are found throughout. An excellent maritime museum has just opened.

Wisconsin is beautiful year round, and most especially in the Fall by the water. For pre- and post-reunion activities more excellent lighthousing is available along the Lakes Superior & Michigan shore to the North. The annual Apostle Islands Lighthouse festival is usually held in September (check: http://www.lighthousecelebration.com/ ) and Copper Harbor and Eagle Harbor in the Michigan UP should not be missed. (see my UP travelogue in the HL-dot-com photo gallery)

Door County or Somewhere in upper lower Michigan would make a great spot for the next reunion.
