Got an email from my brother-in-law

“Thought you might be interested that your hotel opened for business yesterday. Its 12 blocks from the Convention Center, down past the Aquarium on the edge of Little Italy. Everyone is making a big fuss so its sounds like it is really nice.”

Thought you might like an update.

FWIW: I just called the hotel and was told that the rate for Oct 1-2-3 was $254 (yep, $254) per night. Strangely enough that same rate applied to the concierge level. I asked for government, corporate, AAA or any other discount. They said all the "standard" rooms were reserved. It may be that HL has them all spoken for, or a goodly number of them, or that there is another meeting at the start of the week.

Guess what I'm saying is that if you think you want to stay at the Marriott before the reunion I would be talking to HL real soon to see if you can get one thru them.

Your message makes me feel lucky to have a room as part of the reunion. I guess we won't see Tom Bodet there stating his Motel 6 phrase, "We'll leave a light on for ya!"

Hey, the parking garage is only $16 a night. Why not stay there?

When I reserved my space for the reunion, I was told by HL's that they could only offer the Marriott rooms up to 2 days early. That meant I could not have them arrange any extra days earlier than Tuesday night at the reunion room rate. I haven't made my air arrangements but will probably fly in Tuesday.
