I suggest that the HL web page be expanded to include an archive of *all* past issues of the *print version* of the Legacy. Lighthouse Depot of Wells Maine has a web site that includes all past issues of their monthly magazine.

There are a lot of newer members of the HL Collectors Society who would be interested in reading past issues of the Legacy just as we are already able to read past issues of the Lighthouse Depot publication.

Something I've been working on -- but haven't overcome an access issue. The newsletter is a membership benefit of the Collectors Society.

When you registered (If you registered) at the www.HarbourLights.com site, you provided an answer as to your membership and membership number.

But using that database as a check against Society membership is tricky. Otherwise it might be necessary to create a database of Society members & Membership #s from HL's records.

Any thoughts?

John,
Couldn't it be set up like the "Keepers" section of the Lighthousekeepers site? When accessing that portion of the site, we were prompted for our name and password to enter.

The job of course then falls on you or HL for comparing registered users to the HL list of members for accuracy before allowing their existing password to work for access. Maybe a 3rd person (volunteer) could handle the checking and controlling of the password log-ins. I'm sure the argument to that would be giving a non-HL employee access to the society members master list, site registration and password list.

Maybe Tim or someone has a program idea that could run it automatically somehow. I'm sure the master society list has to be on an HL computer somewhere to copy into the program without too much of a hassle.

Not if it is displayed as a regular Web page.

HL could put a caveat on the info asking people not to reproduce it. IANAL, but this should place it under the same conditions as the printed version which probably copyrighted.
