HELP......Bought a new monitor for my computor, last night brought up this site and cannot get what I call table of contents working. All I get is not even half the little boxes and their white on one end and then fade to nothing.

Not a computor person need some help.

This is probably not a monitor problem. What OS (windows 95?) what computer (200MZ PII?) What Browser/Version (IE4.0?).

First check your monitor settings under START/Control Panels/Monitors. See if the system can ID your monitor.

Try a non-Java page:

If that page comes up but the 'core' page (table of contents) does not , it could be a Java problem OR you may be low on video RAM. Did you upgrade to a LARGER monitor? Did you set the display to show more (1024x900?) than before?

If you are using Windows 95, a quicker way to get to the display property sheet is to right-click on the desktop. Then select Properties from the menu that pops up. Then go to the Settings tab.

You say you got a new monitor and that caused the problem. That's not really possible unless you bought a monitor that should be used with a Mac or some other type of computer. It's more likely that you changed your video resolution.

Let's assume you got a larger monitor and since you had more real estate you thought you'd go ahead and raise your resolution. That's a good idea. As long as your video card can handle it. And whether it can is dependent on how much video RAM (memory) you have.

If you only have one or two megabytes of VRAM, that might be your problem. A video card is kind of like a piece of chain link fence. If you stretch it one way, it contracts in the other way.

Likewise, if you have raise the resolution, the number of colors goes down. And if you raise the number of colors, the resolution goes down. Try lowering the resolution and raising the number of colors.

If that doesn't work, hook up your old monitor and see how that works. It's possible you got one made on a Monday. :-)

Java rears its head again. Bob called and we went through a few checks right on the phone and once we checked those JIT Compiler etc. it worked fine.
